[Solved?] Server reset warning? Why?
Good day!

Last night, I got warnings that the "server" was going to reset in an hour, in ten minutes, and in two minutes. I saved and closed the game before the two minutes expired, so I didn't see what happened, but I wonder why I saw these warnings at all. Is this a fulltime online game and I didn't realize it? I'm just playing solo and not even logged into EPIC.

Thanks for any information you all can supply. Cheers!

I had been playing a long session, perhaps 8 hours (although some of that time the game was unattended, whilst sorting food out etc).

I got the warning, saved anyway, then carried on playing. At the due time, server restart happened, got a busy for a mo, then game loaded and just carried on. I got the feeling it did an autosave, closed the session, then just loaded the autosave again, as I was stood in the same place after the restart, as I had been before. Whole process took maybe 5 seconds, this likely depends on save size and PC spec though.

I have never seen a warning like this. You sure you're not playing on a multiplayer server without realizing it?

Or experimental?

Don't I have to do something to initiate a multiplayer session? I checked before I loaded the game today though, and I don't see anything that would indicate it's multiplayer.

EDIT: This is my Session Settings Screen currently, and I haven't changed anything.

Definitely the live public branch.

I had had the game on for like a full day. Maybe that has something to do with the messages?

I would have saved like you did...
And then let it go for the remaining few minutes to see what was going to happen....

May be a glitch?
As technically the game always run on a server that is yourself.... All enclosed within the game... Se they could keep simulation aside from the rest

Ah. Gotcha. I guess I must have been afk when the other resets happened. I wonder why it does that... garbage collection?

Thanks for the replies, everyone!

My dedicated server gives a warning (you can set the reset time interval) exactly as you describe. When the time came, It didn't do anything at all :D I just kept on playing.

My thought was probably garbage collection, like you said, or perhaps a work around for memory leaks with long sessions. I have noticed the game starts to get a little stuttery after several hours, more pop in etc. My system isn't cutting edge, but it's still a decent spec *.

I don't generally play that long in one go, maybe 4 to 6 hours at most, so 8+ was unusual for
me. But I'd been away for a week, so no gaming at all over that time, got home late afternoon on Saturday, and just decided to have an evening of gaming, pizza, and a bottle of wine, with some YT vids playing on the 2nd screen :-)

I think I hit 8 hours around 1am Sunday, so I suspect session length is what triggered this, at least for me.

* System: Ryzen 5800X3D + Radeon 6900 XT + 32GiB (3600MHz) + NVME M.2 drives for OS and bigger games.

Yeah, I thought it was weird when I had the message pop up in my single-player game day after release. I figure it's probably the result of them merging the codebases for dedicated servers with the self-hosted one, and someone forgot to comment out the default server reset timer for the single-player side.
