It is a fun game though!
Cheers! And grats on your retirement too!
Also I retired back in 2010 so its been a while now. For most of that time I put my energy into my kids. But I have only one left in the house and he is 21 so needs little effort from me. but I like to stay busy and sometimes this and about 3 other games I own fill in the blank time and keep my from rotting away in front of youtube. I am a retired engineer and a problem solver at heart. If I am not fixing or creating something I might actually go insane.
If you like that, maybe consider trying the game "Stationeers".
Its not as large scale and also not as good looking graphics, but it is on a whole different level when it comes to creativity and exercising the brain. Its about surviving and base building on other planets and solving engineering problems, but at a much higher level of complexity. Feel a bit like being the guy in marsian movie. For example you are supposed to actually learn programming in order to automate even simple things like sun tracking for a solar panel.
I am always on the look out for other games but I generally stick to a small handful of games that grab and hold my interest for long periods of time and has an infinitely repayable sand box.
You are gaining fun and applying preventive solution at the same with 1 video game.
So well worth it than medicine and worry of families
Very challenging ‘game’ about solving engineering problems. Like… can you maintain a breathable atmo and survivable temp in an enclosed structure?
stationeers goes way beyond space engineers in engineering complexity and surviving difficulty.
For example - in space engineers processing ore is simply throwing it into a furnace which is just a block. In stationeers building the furnace itself is already rocket science, but running it can twist your brain, especially in an automated way. For certain alloys you must maintain certain gas conditions in the furnace and to program that properly you will have to learn some thermodynamics. And you can easily blow up your whole base when mixing hydrogen and oxygen to make fuel for the furnace. Actually as a beginner you will certainly blow up your base at some point hehe.
