Game feel like a job...
I retired a few years ago...
When I play a this game, I feel like I just got off work when I finish a session.
*dragging knuckles on the ground*

Maybe I should have just gone back to work... at least I'd be making money. LOL

This game, is a lot of work. hahah!

When I retired I found myself working more then I ever did when employed. Suddenly I and time and everything around me became e anew project plus I got bored the first month of retirement. So I dont mine the work aspect of this game. What I like doing something that exercises my brain a bit here and there and lets me try new things every time I do something.

The endless zoop dragging isn't too much of a brain exercise for me. hah! And the math? Well, there's nothing to that either really.
It is a fun game though!

Cheers! And grats on your retirement too!

Its not about the zooping and math. Its about finding a new way to something I havent tried before. I guess the creative side of solving a problem in a dozen different ways. There is one way to play this game. Each time I get to a phase again I find different solution to accomplish the same thing.

Also I retired back in 2010 so its been a while now. For most of that time I put my energy into my kids. But I have only one left in the house and he is 21 so needs little effort from me. but I like to stay busy and sometimes this and about 3 other games I own fill in the blank time and keep my from rotting away in front of youtube. I am a retired engineer and a problem solver at heart. If I am not fixing or creating something I might actually go insane.

If you like that, maybe consider trying the game "Stationeers".
Its not as large scale and also not as good looking graphics, but it is on a whole different level when it comes to creativity and exercising the brain. Its about surviving and base building on other planets and solving engineering problems, but at a much higher level of complexity. Feel a bit like being the guy in marsian movie. For example you are supposed to actually learn programming in order to automate even simple things like sun tracking for a solar panel.

the other games I play are space engineers, rimworld, and oxygen not included. the later too are less serious and I play for short sessions. but satisfactory and space engineers I play long term saves and build huge sandbox projects. I also have alot of fun building functional computers using ONIs automation system. Rimworld lets me explore my dark side if you know what I mean, I like it because almost anything goes in how you treat the pawns in the game.

I am always on the look out for other games but I generally stick to a small handful of games that grab and hold my interest for long periods of time and has an infinitely repayable sand box.

Without job, human brain will catch Alzheimer quicker.
You are gaining fun and applying preventive solution at the same with 1 video game.
So well worth it than medicine and worry of families

I only play these games when home and nothing else to do. I like building things during the day. Currently I am little by little adding on to my house and hope to sell or rent it when I am done.

+1

Very challenging ‘game’ about solving engineering problems. Like… can you maintain a breathable atmo and survivable temp in an enclosed structure?

At first I thought you were describing space engineers. as you have to do the same things there. but checking out Stationeers it seems to be very similar

I think they are similar, but I never got far into space engineers. Stationeers goes very deep into the engineering problems to solve. Breathable atmo, for example, is not at all a simple solution. It requires lots of moving, filtering and monitoring of the gas mixtures. Pressures also have to be dealt with or bad things happen

stationeers goes way beyond space engineers in engineering complexity and surviving difficulty.

For example - in space engineers processing ore is simply throwing it into a furnace which is just a block. In stationeers building the furnace itself is already rocket science, but running it can twist your brain, especially in an automated way. For certain alloys you must maintain certain gas conditions in the furnace and to program that properly you will have to learn some thermodynamics. And you can easily blow up your whole base when mixing hydrogen and oxygen to make fuel for the furnace. Actually as a beginner you will certainly blow up your base at some point hehe.

It's funny OP mentioned this, because just a few hours ago i realized that i treat playing this game the same way i do my job (I'm a accountant). 2-3 hours of serious thought and effort on a particular task, then i need to take a 15-20 minute break to smoke a cigarette and let my brain relax before I'm ready to move onto the next task. And just like my job, there is ALWAYS another task (or 3) waiting to be done.
