Coal is now almost waste of time to setup other than 1 small starter plant to just get off bio burners. All the time spent setting up a formerly nice 3600 MW coal plant with 48 generators is far better spent just staying with starter 16 generator coal setup, and go do oil.
A single pure oil node, or combining 2 normal ones with max overclock gives the full 600 flow rate Mk2 pipes can handle. Even without turbo fuel or other higher fuels, plain old standard FPG with regular fuel = 10k MW starter plant.
Don't focus on whether node is pure or impure, just think of X = 600 total flow with full overclock. So mix and match enough normal and impure nodes to combine into one pipeline system until reaching 600 max flow rate.
Well, I disagree with your viewpoint of coal as I have 4 plants running in the ocean of my coast. And unlike bio fuel those plants will run adinfinitum. But what I remember from the last time I build oil was I had several oil locations with a nice level of oil making 80 plants out of six wells. But it was also a while ago that I built oil so it could have been nerfed before 1.0. And for everything I build I alway pay attention to the quality of the node. After all, you can only boost an impure just so much.
Packaging and unpackaging items is only useful if you plan to move liquids by train, truck, or drone. Otherwise it is the most wasteful thing I've seen in the game.
