We we need an upgraded cable?
This morning when I logged on and happened to click on a power pole, It said there was only 750 MW's and it was running off of the power storage (had 3,350 MW's normally). Took my tractor around to the three areas where i had coal fired power plants, but they were all running fine. However I noticed that different areas had different amounts of power. Only one was on batteries. Finally figured it out. Two of the cables has "snapped". In the almost five years of playing, this had happened many times in the past. Sometimes a cable hooked to a machine would be missing.

Are these cables breaking as part of the game, to give us this scenario on purpose, or do these cables need an upgrade?

no, game does not delete your cables on its own. (edit, at least not by design)

some possible reasons (not exhaustive, just most common)
- accidentally deleted the cable while dismantling something nearby
- never installed to begin with

cables them selves have no upgrade. You can get upgraded power poles with more connection points though via the caterium mam tree.

I have done that many times! Usually when being over enthusiastic with the mass delete.

You seriously came to the forums with 5000 hours played, to blame accidentally dismantling a power line on the cable 'snapping'?

Who hasn't? >< Easily overlooked/missed, especially when you start flying around with the Hoverpack.

Its definitely a good idea to get used to using the "sample filter" function with G when working in packed areas. Works for everything from mass dismantling, to applying paints to specific objects.

Oh, sometimes I am like: "Where was this cable for again? Think I do not need it, let's remove it..... 'Fuse broken'..... OH, that was the power source cable"
