Coal Power
I'm starting a coal plant as ik it'd 3 to 8 for a simple coal power factory my question is could you run a 6 to 16 ratio with a mk 2 pipeline if they all stay at 45m³ per generator with a mk 2 miner overclocked to 200% percent at 240 coal a min or is it better to underclock and run 5 water to 15 coal generator given they are underclocked to 40m³ of water per min.

For mk2 pipeline you need plastic, which is difficult to have before coal. And if you have oil and plastic already then going straight for fuel generators is probably a better idea.

But you must not connect everything with a single pipe actually.
You can split water feeding, it must not be all on same pipe. When you split it, you can have a power plant of any size where only MK1 pipes are used.

8:3 ratio is difficult to split as you cannot divide 8 by 3 nor you can divide 3 by 2 for example. But it also must not be 8:3 ratio.

I prefer actually a 2:1 ratio with fully overclocked generators. it makes a lot of sense fully overclocking power generators as unlike in production there are no any negative effect from overclocking power generators.

in my current game I have each 2 generators @250% being fed by 1 extractor overclocked to 225 m³ (3 shards ~220%). This fits into MK1 pipe and exactly matching water demand of two full overclocked generators. I have 20 generators and 10 extractors. That nets to 3750 MW -550 for water extractors.

Ah okay im still in early game getting it setup and in one play through I had 180 coal generators and 60 water extractors but only 52 of the coal generators were active at 88.8888% clocked and 24 water extractors going at 100%

I do not have mk2 pipes yet.

But I am running a line of 18 coal generators with 270 coal by stacking 3 mk1 pipes vertically and using a water tower. I stack 3 pipes by using the pipe stacker and leaving 1 extra space between each pipe, below each coal generator I cross connect each pipe and the coal generator. I am running 8 water extractors at 100% with 1 feeding the water tower. And has been running flat for a few days.

That is what I started with but it is now 4 rows of 18 coal generators (72 total), and 28 water extractors. I know it is an extra water extractor, but it just seems to work better for me with it.

That extra water extractor feeds the water tower with 2 pumps.

I run 1 water for 2 coal and underclock. Saves a lot of power.

Better stick to 8 generators per section. Easier to upscale.

Yes, with t2 pipe you can make sections of 16 generators. Just link water input from both sides.

It's up to you how to make sections, but I personally prefer not overclocked variants (except miners)

I have 1 water extractor on 80% for 2 coal generators.
Then 1 normal coal line splits into 4 coal generators.
No need for anything complicated if you build on water and feed it directly in.
