Later on, you'll get a jetpack... Which mostly didn't help with building that much but will help you get on to the building faster.
Much later on, you'll get Hoverpack. Which allows you to hover around your factories (basically, fly around), at the cost of 100MW from your nearby grid. This is what you really want when building a factory.
Building on the ground if you press R you can use Zoopla, aim uo some and build 10 out!
Alternately make a blueprint or import 1 from a creative world with the 6x6 BP design and you can paste 6x6 tiles faster.
No, if you don't enable on a new save, you never can.
I tried the tiles in the blueprint. Problem with that is it won't lock on to the game grid. So I don't use that.
Here is how, build something locked to the game grid, 1 single tile. Then adjust the blueprint to Match, it isn't directly "locked" but it's 100% in line with the grid. Use the nudge feature, press H to lock it then arrow keys to nudge, press ctrl arrows to nudge by half.
Just snap it to something that's already aligned with the world grid.
