How long does it take to beat the game?
Basically the question above.
How long does it take to beat the game? As in has anyone already calculated how much resources do you actually need for all the end game equipment and the stages before it?
My question is - is it worth it to make a big resource bin so to speak for raw resources and once you have enough of them you can plan out a factory to make the transitions more fluent rather than doing it bit by bit? Or is it just a bad idea in general?

For newbie who wants to beat the game is gigafactory insane waste of time.

The time you spend on basic constructions, preparations, train network, figuring out material processing, optimizing, making blueprints, fixing errors... You could probably "beat" the game 3 times with small, messy, spagethi factories in same time.

Making big factories is not about beating the game.

So my very wild guess would be 60 hours minimum, 200+ if you have OCD like half of the playerbase.
The first guy to beat v1 did it in a single 21or22hr sitting.

I plan on taking at least 500hrs, prolly closer to 1000..

I like how ppl come up with unrealistic time based on some speedrun of experienced player with alot of preparations thats not even included in that time.

I did say "IF YOU ARE EFFICIENT" LMAO
Anyone Who knows anything about speed running KNOWS about the Prep Time (and Number of Attempts)
Play how you wanna play. If you wanna make a mega factory, who cares if it's the best or worst way to make a factory, it's the way you wanna play.
That's all up to anyone how you define 'beat' the game. One could say there is an ending. But since I prefer to play this game as a sandbox, I decide my own goals for this game. So it never ever stops, until I had enough of it.

And if you really want to beat the game, I can only suggest checking 'letsgameitout' ;)
How long is a piece of string?

Several hundred hours if not thousands of hours
Thank you for the answers and suggestions. The whole factory process keeps changing in my head with every new upgrade or item unlocked. Every stage feels like it wants me to destroy the factory and create a new one, more optimised, more efficient, more of everything. My OCD keeps jerking my attention to details, especially those not right angles of the belts and splitters. I fear the time when i unlock trains...

I followed it up by commenting how long I'll be taking on my first 1.0 save... And that's for me, an experienced player..

Of coarse Epiphany did is 22 hours... that dude is insane.
I'd say normal people could will beat it in 100 to 150 hours if they hyper focus on just building production lines and not any cosmetics touches

On my previous playthrough before 1.0 I spent ~150 hours and almost finished all Space elevators tiers.
Since 1.0 they added some more complex materials and high tier requirements, so my guess now is ~200 hours, if you don't rush
