Same applies to weapons.
The only thing the game badly needs is a better UI for the depot. Once you have enough pinned items that you have to start scrolling down, it defeats the point.
So obviously direct usage out of dimensional storage is possible, why not for fuel and ammo then?
It doesn't make the game any harder or something, it just makes it more tedious.
Seems more like an oversight to me than an intended design descision.
Because the build gun is linked to your storage.
This is the basics of inventory management, and frankly I don't want to see every possible material I have available for these things. If you think getting a single stack of material out of your inventory every once in a while is tedious then how do you even play this game?
I would understand your point if it was not possible to put these things in dimensional storage at all, and that would be a design descision to add some management and thinking ahead, but they are there.
The action to have to pull the stack doesn't improve the gameplay in any way, it doesn't add any kind of management or anything, it's just a few additional button presses i have to do once in a while just for the sake of it.
Because it puts some level of responsibility in my hands for the EXPLORATION part of this game.
The dimensional depot is a gigantic improvement for the construction aspect, as there's no longer a need to grab every single little thing from your factory for construction projects, only to have inevitably missed one thing and need to go back.
I am responsible for managing exactly what ammo and fuel types I have available, and the depot existing also means I don't have to load up with an entire arsenal.
Sry i really can't see that. Having to drag&drop doesn't require more responsibility, planning or anything.
What exactly do you have to manage now that you wouldn't have to manage when that drag&drop gets automated?
You'd also have to manage what ammo and fuel types you have available in the dimensional storage, same as you have now, so there is no difference. Do you have any other examples what to manage exactly?
All the decision to disallow drawing fuel, ammo, and filters from storage means is I have to reserve 8 or 9 inventory slots for those items. It's not some deep "RESPONSIBILITY" you're trying to make it out to be, just a tiny inconvenience.
I don't, I think it's just a tiny unnecessary annoyance and that's all it adds to the game.
Does make as much sense as building from the dimensional storage does.
Don't start with lore reasons, you can make up lore for everything to work in the world.
I already have the ability to pull the stuff from one inventory to the other, nothing more is needed.
sort etc.
and the depot is already extremely overpowered. i get its a videogame, but having weapon ammo and fuel being used directly from depot just wouldn't feel right. it already feels like cheating since they took the "lets gear up and head out" element out of the game due to depot.
i still feel like depot should only be available by tier 8-9 NOT immediately in tier 3-4. it just feels like end game content. i have all assembly lines ending in a depot. so i now have unlimited ammo, resources etc. i don't even really use my personal inventory anymore and i have a 4 player session
