Request for smart splitter

It seems that you can't use a smart splitter for things you haven't unlocked. Yet you can find these things on the ground. I would like to request the smart splitter to allow sorting of these items regardless if you unlocked them or not.

I have like 500 motors and stators that I haven't unlocked yet. On top of that it allows me to set up the splitters beforehand so I don't need to put gaps in my sorting station now.

Or you could just unlock the advanced steel production milestone instead of devs spending their time making something new. That's literally a phase 2 milestone... Bruh.

Look, if you choose to play the game in a weird way, that's on you. Having a whopping 500 motors and stators before unlocking a simple phase 2 milestone is definitely not normal. Figure it out, that's part of the game after all.

This has a simpler solution, just use overflow or the any undefined in a smart way in your sorting station and you can filter out everything how you want it.

If you want that you'd probably have to put it on their Q and A site for them to really look at it.
But it is sort of a weird choice, I agree. Would've been nice to be able to set things up before you've unlocked them in some circumstances. I probably won't need that to any appreciable degree, but I can see the appeal.

Really find it interesting how some people are going "it's not a problem" instead of just ignoring it if they don't have anything useful to add.

yeah I'm not sure why some people are being jerks about this. I am creating a sort station and want to be able to sort mid-level stuff. I dump the lot in one bin and it uses smart splitters to sort into other bins. Putting multiple items on overflow then manually sorting them defeats the entire purpose of a sort station. I'm simply suggesting the smart splitters having access to all items and not just what is unlocked. Just like how signs work. I can select any item for the sign image, but I can't have it sort into the bin. Thus my request.
