The game is too dark
I find it somewhat hard to play since there is not enough brightness to the game. I tried to max out the gamma the results are not noticeable.
I feel like I'm always playing in the dark and it's killing my eyes..

Take of your sunglasses, that works..... all jokes aside, did you accidentally put your brightness of your screen itself to really low?

check to see if you have lumen enabled or not. its under global illumination. I know having that on changes alot and dark rooms will be even darker and bright rooms will be even brighter depending on the setting and how you setup lighting.
also if enabled there is a setting right below it that lets you choose the type of lighting lumen will use. if you play around with this you might get something better (or worse) then you have now.
You've definitely got something else set wrong. I'm using all the defaults, and it's perfectly fine. I only need the flashlight while doing building at night in the shadows.

The thing you quoted explicitly states they "maxed out the gamma"

You can try to change "Options" -> "Video" -> "Advanced" -> "Global Illumination".

ALSO Glolbal Illumination has a drop down menu with more options for brightness or "glominess". It's very easy to miss cause it's hidden, aside, from the Menu arrow indicator.

Add more lights :)

Use your built in flashlight. I actually recommend disabling global illumination as it is not fully supported and will make rooms very dark (like the exact problem OP is describing...)

At daytime the game is very bright for me. I never once changed any settings, but never once thought it was too dim apart from when I fell into a cave, whcih is clearly supposed to be dark.
my flashlight sorted that though.

Have you checked your birth certificate to ensure you're not Stevie Wonder?
It may be in Braille. /s

Add lights. The game is dark only at night, or in caves.
So, judging from the comments, nobody understands your complaint. 'Cause the game ain't dark.

You want help?
Post your specs
