Pretty much this tbh.
It's something you use such small quantities of, it's really not worth the trouble unless you're determined to automate it.
I crafted 100 while making a cup of tea, filled up my storage (at the time), and I still have about half left 80+ hours later.
But as others said, there is an alt recipe to allow automated crafting.
That's what I did. I left my girl banging away at the bench and went to get a snack IRL. When I came back she had couple hundred miners ready, I uploaded them to the depot and I'm good for a while.
Nah.... she had enough mats to work with.
PS. This was impractical before 1.0 because one miner occupied one inv slot. Since you can now have 50 miners per slot, it's doable.
