Way to automate Portable Miner production?

The Portable Miner is necessary for Mk. 1 & 2 miners. I thought I could build an Assembler and automate the production of Portable Miners from Iron Plates and Iron Bars. But I don't see the recipe for Portable Miners within the Assembler.

Is there a way to automate production of the Portable Miner?

It's an alternate recipe you can get with MAM hard drive research. It's available in the pool after Tier 3 Basic Steel Production is unlocked.

Alternatively you can select the recipe on the equipment bench, hit space, and then go an make yourself a drink or go to the toilet or something, come back and voila portable miners for days

a better way is to get dimensional depot then just craft up to 250 miners and store them in the depot then never think about them again

Pretty much this tbh.
It's something you use such small quantities of, it's really not worth the trouble unless you're determined to automate it.
I crafted 100 while making a cup of tea, filled up my storage (at the time), and I still have about half left 80+ hours later.

But as others said, there is an alt recipe to allow automated crafting.

With the dimensional depot, automating them is actually worthwhile now. Never have to craft or carry them around again.

That's what I did. I left my girl banging away at the bench and went to get a snack IRL. When I came back she had couple hundred miners ready, I uploaded them to the depot and I'm good for a while.

Nah.... she had enough mats to work with.

PS. This was impractical before 1.0 because one miner occupied one inv slot. Since you can now have 50 miners per slot, it's doable.
