I wish train tracks came with foundations that curve w/ the tracks
The tracks look like a silly rollercoaster ride if you don't build your own foundations.
But to build your own foundations, it drastically limits directions you can build, and even then you have to use archaic methods.

Can you just allow foundations to be placed WITH the train tracks that curve like the track does as you place it down?

Use bluepritns.

what I do is place a foundation every so often and bridge the track between them. I recently began using half foundations that sort of resemble oversize railroad ties.
as for the turns I put one at a 45 degree angle around the curve or maybe at other angles if the its a more shallow curve.

I havent experimented with things like beams but as I type this I wonder if I can use them to make a more interesting railroad tie look.

You could make this suggestion on the Q&A site (questions.satisfactorygame.com) where the devs are more likely to see it if it gets up voted.

You can make good looking 90 and 45 degree turns already, just blueprint some presets and pop them down before you place the tracks. You don't need smooth curves to make train track foundations look good.

Also a hint: if you get creative you can accomplish even more than this with the help of beams, they can be placed in a lot of different ways and at a lot of different angles. I've seen some sick looking supports with a lot of interesting turning angles.

I generally go with a more natural look that follows the ground. although I sometimes raise up on frames when passing over a deep valley between two hills to take the worst of the rollercoaster effect out. but I use the half foundations to get things to a consistent height and to guide the track through complicated turns.

Just started building my train station but I too hoped there was some kind of snap on foundation that attaches to the train track

I put down the foundations at whatever angle I need and attach the rail to them. foundations are easier to manipulate into custom angles then the rails are which seem to prefer perpetual curves leading to me having a track that keeps making small s turns constantly.
I dont make the foundations connected to one another just plop them down at a reasonable interval that the track can stretch between them. also I put the foundations into the terrain as much as possible to minimize the floating rail look.

The small pillar support piece from the shop will snap to the bottom of rails and will follow curves, which you can then attach foundations to

I was thinking more of horizonally placing beams to be more like railroad ties. right now I sue half foundations every so often like you used your pillars and it works well when the foundations are low into the terrain. but while responding to this thread I began thinking I might like to use beams every 2m or so to give it more of a railroad tie look.
I think i play with some blueprints. right now I just toss out foundations where I need them and stretch track but to make the railroad tie thing i would probably need to make blueprints with a bunch of beams on the sides all parallel to one another that I can lay on the ground before laying the track.

Oh hell. I knew pillars themselves snapped, but I never tried the small support. I just tried this and it allows the hollow steel foundations to snap directly below the track. Thank you for this because I am a huge fan of using the hollow steel foundations for rail.

rollercoasters are fun, I see this as an absolute win

Know it's possible, seen plenty of youtube vids with gorgeous curves, but I personally just gave up and mentally justified my rails use magic levitation tech.

So I lay foundations just to lay the track, then leave the floating in air tracks after deleting all or some of the foundations. It looks ugly or beautiful depending how strongly you can rationalize 'magical technology'.

Curves are really not as a hard to do as you might think, all you need to do is see someone do it and it will all make sense. All you need is the road barrier, the catwalk intersection, and foundations. blueprint once for left curve and one for right curve and you're done.

Nice work. Thanks for the idea. Mine wasn't nearly as elegant

I have and can make curves, but it’s way too much work. Wouldn’t be any need if the tracks you lay have a long curved foundation lay with it, that perhaps people can choose from a few types.
