To calculate it open the biomass burner and click on the flashing fuel icon where you would put the biomass, record the burn rate number of the item you plan to burn. Now take the speed of the belt you plan to use (MK1 = 60, MK2 = 120, MK3 = 270, etc) and divide them so a MK1 belt feeding biomass will be 60 / 10 = 6 burners.
Also use balancers to optimize how you feed your burners.
Otherwise fuse would go off if no other power suppply.
Generally build like 10 and go coal.
leaves 120/m = 1 burner on mk2 belt
wood 18/m = 3.33 Burners on a mk1 or 6.67 Burners on a mk2
Biomass 10/m = 6 on a mk1, 12 on a mk2
Solid Biomass 4/m = 15 on mk1, 30 on a mk2
Since biomass burners burn based on demand, and biomass is manually harvested, I thought a load balanced approach would be best... so I used 1 splitter > 3 splitters > 9 burners.

A container to a smart splitter (or 2 containers before unlocking the smart splitter)
Two constructor making Biomass, into a merger to the constructor making solid biomass, was enough to power my 6 burners easily until coal.
Then open the search thingy (n?), type in your belt rate, a big slash "/" then the number of the hunger rate. There ya go, easy in game calculator.
