So maybe I misspoke. I've already built an alien power augmenter. On one side, there's an entrance to connect a conveyor belt. Is it intended to feed the beast?

Yep. Look at the node after the Power Augmenter in the MAM.

There's an end-game item that increases augmenter power boost when fed into it via conveyor belt, provided you have a sufficient supply of said item. Each augmenter consumes 5 of this item per minute.

However, with the extreme amount of power needed to meet the manufacturing rate to supply even one augmenter, it's NOT worth going for unless your power grid is in the hundreds of thousands of MW. Otherwise you will likely spend more power trying to keep one augmenter supplied than you will gain from the boost. Quantum Encoders are extremely unstable on power demand, even more-so than the Particle Accelerator, each one consuming upwards of 2,000MW
