Smart splitter > Sink, set the first to overflow and it is 'cleaning' itself

How do you get those crates into the smart splitter? What I'm talking about are the white player crates that get created when the thing you've destroyed creates more parts than your inventory has room for.

Ohhh. I thought you meant you was using the buildable containers and manually placing overflow production in them. The other person may have been thinking the same. The easy solution is to do inventory management as you destroy so that the crates aren’t created to begin with. Alternatively, ignore them.

I always keep my inventory with a few free slots so those crates never get created. they can be annoyances for sure to clean up later after a mass dismantle.

I would even take a button that does a "grab all" or "destroy all" on all nearby crates because I often find it annoying to reach each one just which has 2 iron plates or something stupid just to clear them out off the map.

You deal with it by having inventory space when you're dismantling things, so they aren't created. Periodically clear out inventory from junk you don't need.

Build a personal storage, or two, dump everything in them. Then disassemble stuff. When done, take your stuff back, toss your undesired items in the sink, disassemble the personal storage boxes.

That's how I do it.

You can also skip the sink step completely and just dump the items into trash out of inventory, useful when you're dismantling belts with a lot of crap on them you don't need anyway.

I'm reporting you to Ficsit for your disregard for 100% efficiency.

you can build a container to drop your inventory + a few other for the stuff you want to keep and a final one linked to a sink to get rid of the rest.

you can transfer all of the same kind with ctrl + left mouse click
you can also automate the sorting with smart splitter

I already told ADA that if I don't do this I am wasting time running back and worth between my containers and the building site, being inefficient with my time. She said nothing as always, so I assume she understand my reasoning

I always have a truck or a train nearby to dump all the excess in

Untick them in map options and move on with life

It's literally faster to just single button dump your entire inventory into a designated storage unit that pumps into a sink than to hand drag each stack to delete it

Inefficient is not having a sink at every build site

Every factory hub should have a sink for overflow with a merge that can be fed with a storage/disposal unit

And if you're cleaning up / dismantling a site you won't use anymore, the last thing you pick up is the sink

My solution is Plan Better. You KNOW you are dismantling stuff. You should realize you might need free inventory space.

It's literally not because you have to spend the time getting to that storage unit. Even if you had literally hundreds of them across the map all connected to sinks (which nobody does) it would still be faster to just delete unwanted items by CTR+dragging what you don't need to the trash icon. Takes literally less than 10 seconds.

So no, I am definitely not going to run halfway across the map to where I have the nearest one just to deposit some items and receive an amount of points that won't even show up on my sink graph. Objectively a bad idea, a complete waste of time.
