Gas Nobelisks...any good other than picking on fauna?

Are gas nobelisks good for anything other than throwing them at dangerous fauna and watching the poor creatures suffocate?

I just built them for the first time this evening, and they can be mildly useful at scaring away nasties from an object briefly. I found a Mercer with two big hogs nearby, and they ran away long enough for me to grab the sphere and clear out of there. It is of course wise to have a gas mask with filters if you try this.

If you somehow find yourself in a situation where you have gas bombs but no rifle, they can be useful for suppressing hatchers, since the bugs will immediately die off.

I never use em, i only use explosive to clear objects- if i need or want to kill stuff, i use the basher or a gun.

use tube to go up, use pulse to go forward, cross the map in under 5 seconds!

Fauna will avoid entering a gas cloud produced by a Gas Nobelisk if at all possible. Basically it’s like a temporary, transparent wall. So if you put a cloud between you and the hostiles and start shooting through it, they won’t charge you or attack you. This works on both hogs and spitters, and is particularly handy if you’re still using the rebar gun.

Hogs will still charge through it. Which can make it useful for killing hogs, especially if you stun then mid charge, inside the gas cloud.

I love gas bombs, they're a rich mans boombox with hatchers that doesn't stop you from shooting or slapping. Also clearing some space when you can't be bothered to clear the area is great, especially with those nuke hogs. Their effectiveness kind of peters out as a weapon the tougher the creature you're up against but still useful when you're lazy.

I just started using them yesterday, worked on the medium stinger spider, but not the biggest one. Handy to drop them down from above to clear an area with multiple mobs.
