Can I rotate Objects other than on the Z axis

Is there a way to change rotation so that I do not turn on the Z axis but can also
put a platform, roof, foundation on the side ? I have seen that in many megaprints
of other players but havent found out how to do it ?

Beams and such can be placed like that, but foundations and buildings are always flat. With clever clipping you can get the illusion of things being on their sides but most things can't be rotated in all directions.

IIRC there were mods that allowed such things. They'll probably be updated to be compatible with 1.0 in time.
