Drone ports link to wrong destination
I saw this bug long ago in early access and now it is back in 1.0.

If you have a lot of drone ports, at some point destination linking no longer works. For example: Right now, when I try to link a port to my "Container Supply" depot port (to get containers for packaging), the port links to a compacted coal supply port.

The selected destination says "container supply" but the relevant port links to "compacted coal supply" - this bug brings my game to a crashing halt, because the wrong products are distributed causing belt-fouling and taking everything offline.

This is a game-breaking bug for anyone who uses drones. At this point I have to stop the game and wait for a patch. Please, please, please FIX THIS.

FYI: I use a Ubuntu instance to run a 24/7 server.

single player, 5 drone ports and they were working perfectly. But I made 2 more to create a new line and they deviate and REFUSE to go to the correct port. Also when they were built, it scrambled some of the other port's destinations as well. I was going to try to rely on drones for a few tasks but it is not feasable.

caused by using old saves as far as I know

new world on 1.0 and its happening to me, most of my infrastructure was built for drones so it's feeling unplayable now

No. Completely new save, exactly the same problem. Drone destination gets set to something entirely different from what you set it as. Relevant Port shows the actual port it's going to. Unless you just randomly go down the list so the Relevant Port is the one you *really* wanted, and then when the drone takes off, it'll change to something completely different again.

I guess that's this playthrough done, since this pretty much breaks all my logistics.

I just ran into this as well. Also using many drone ports. Not sure how to proceed at this point.

Make it one-way only. Since drone requires fuel, this approach is more efficient, and you only need to place the drone at the port with fuel.

The reason is because you have identical names on two or more drone ports. Go through your drone ports and find your problem port. Most likely a very recent drone port that you have made.

Make the names all unique and your problems will go away.
+1 i have had this too.

Workaround is to locate the offending drone port, delete it and rebuild. Frustrating to be sure.

I have always had unique names and it still happened.

kinda of wired if its the same name thing... they shoud use a key/id/whatever and not the display value as a link code wise. and i also have this problem
Hm, not seen any issues with drones. Having just setup packaged ionized fuel and feeding it out to my drone ports. I have around 30 drone ports atm, 15 sending items, 15 recieving items. No issues whatsoever.

Configure the port sending items and set the destination port. And build the drone on the send port. Do not place a drone on the destination port. Feed fuel into the send port.

Are you setting multiple ports to same destination? cause that can definatly cause issues.

Do they all have unique names? Then no, you will not have that problem. That's the whole issue.

I urge anyone who comes to this thread to go back through each of your ports and check the naming convention. I was *certain* that all my ports were named differently but low and behold I had two named the same. As soon as I deleted that port and went back and fixed all of the others again, they stopped switching off their original destinations. Big facepalm. Also, yea... Devs need to base that on some internal IDs, and not names that the player can set causing things to go haywire. Wowsers!

I have the same problem. I added a new drone port and all of a sudden, the port selection was one off. I would select the destination port but the drone would always go to one previous in the list. I was able to figure this out by looking at the drone status page under 'Target.' I don't know how things got one off, nor do I know how to fix it. All of my drone ports are uniquely named but I'm going triple verify all ports.
