Blueprint designer is very disappointing.
Even though there are now two print designers that are a tiny bit bigger, they are still uselessly small. I was hoping for at least 92x92x92 but the developers didn't even get half way there.

The mod that worked on update 8, that was my bread and butter. Mark 4.2 was exactly what I was looking for but now the full release broke it. At least my modded factories still work but until the mods are fixed, my factories can not be modded any further.

48x48x48 not big enough? maybe.... but 92x92x92 would be too much... no more 64x64x64, but really I think the mk3 is fine.

As a workaround, you could design them in chunks, and then stitch them together manually. But I agree, the BP designer is ultimately disappointing (if it could at least just snap...).

if it could auto snap lines tracks and such id be happy with it. till then i still end up purpose built. but i do have my cannon hmmm i do need to bp a mk3 bp cannon. but if i just do the loader and the barrel in separate bps second no... thats just a map exit not a cannon

Why have them in the first place?

Just do it like Empyrion does. Look at it and hit the create blueprint button.

If it's a technical issue, just limit the amount of items that that be in a blueprint. But i don't see why you'd have to. In Empyrion you can create a star destroyer, complete with a decorated interior and instantly blueprint it, just by looking at it.

This whole, make a pad then build on it thing is just weird.

its make a blue print not steal a blue print its a huge difference. its look what "I" made not look what i copied.(tho that is an option i guess)

Try making a turbo motor factory in a 48x48x48, it can not be done but it can be done in a 92x92x92 because I did do it.

i will admit i would be hard pressed to put to put 40(1) refineries 20 constructors 6 blenders 2 large tanks and 52 maxed out genies on a blupeint of any size i wish i could i have to do at least 1 more tomorrow down i blue pond and i already have 2 of those there

ya its kinda difficult to work with such a small space. I think the best way to do it is to make multiple blueprints and chain them together, but obviously that has a lot of drawbacks as well.

Remember that any complaints regarding the size of the blueprint designer are a you problem, and only serve to highlight your own inefficiencies.

Like are you talking “everything” except drills and extractor… or not including refineries too?
because I might be able to squeeze most of that in there, without the refineries

I made a pretty decent looking rotor factory and a pretty decent reinforced plate factory in the blueprint. There are some hacky ways you have to do some things though.

Like getting a 2-way plug outside when your walls are hugging the outside of the blueprint machine. You can apparently only put the 2-way plug on one of the 4 blueprint machine walls? IDK... It kept telling me the plug was sticking too far out on 3 of the 4 blueprint walls.

Also trying to set up a sign on a wall that is flush with the blueprint wall was a pain in the ass. I had to set up a foundation behind the wall, remove the wall, then place a sign where the wall was in order to get it there. It is pretty much replacing the wall. IDK, I am sure there are better ways to get signs on the outside of your blueprints, but its super hacky right now.

This is a building game, not some glamorous exercise in copy/paste plagiarism.
Be grateful for what you have, and work with it.
Not just IG either.

These snide comments by ADA just make me laugh. Its only ever the devs trying to throw shade on players for their ♥♥♥♥ design choices at various points that they know are contentious.

Some of these buildings are so stupidly tall. It's impossible to create any blueprint that stacks 2 coal generators before Mk3 because of how tall the chimney stack is.

I wish there was a much larger blueprint designer that only worked for trains and train related things because man doing all that manually sucks so hard and absolutely nothing, not even a basic t junction fits in even the mk3 blueprint designer :/
