performance problems when building
Hello everyone,

I've had major performance problems while building since version 1.0. It's particularly bad when building conveyor belts. As soon as the conveyor belt is placed and while it's being built, the game starts to stutter, feels like 5 FPS, small micro freezes, the whole thing lasts about 2 seconds, when the conveyor belt is completely finished, everything runs very well again.
Otherwise the game runs very smoothly, I only have these problems when building. It's just extremely annoying, after an hour of building, you feel like your eyes are going to pop out of your head, it's not fun at all.

My system: I7 13700KF, RTX 4080, 32 GB RAM

Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks for the help, greetings

And what I forgot is that when I open the menu to change the colors, the game stutters extremely after a while.

Have you tried NVidia DLSS without scaling?

Hmm, safe to assume you are running DX12? You don't happen to have something like Netflix open in the background do you?

Nothing in the background and yes, DX12. I have no idea, i can change the settings to 1920*1080, doesnt make any difference.
Played for 800+ hours with no problems and now this.

I know settings changed when 1.0 came out and I had to reset things. I have the same video card as you and am running without issue at 4k all on full. The only other thing I can think of, is windowed vs full vs windowed full screen. I also use vsync for what that is worth. Sorry wasn't much help.

I tried this windowed vs full vs windowed full screen settings, changed nothing. Maybe i have to wait for a new driver. Thank you for your help.

I figured you tried those, not like we have that many options. For the driver, I am actually running older (I believe). 556.12.

Probably not related but did you ever do the microcode update from intel for your 13700KF?
I also had this issue, and it's not gone, but this was a massive help. Actually playable.

Thank you for sharing the link, it doesn't really help me. I've already tried everything possible in the video settings, unfortunately without success.

Worth a quick Steam game file integrity check - maybe it will find a file to repair.

You definitely have no mods installed? If so, that might be a cause

Before I updated to 1.0, I downloaded and ran the latest nvidia drivers.

The beginning (first 3 mins) of this recent guide also has a couple of windows setting tweaks, that could help (and maybe the rest of the guide also, but your specs are better than mine and I have everything cranked up to about the max with no FPS issues). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvFzCGWkPkA

Also wonder - is this happening on single player or in multi player. Might help others to diagnose for you.

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately, the video didn't help either. Even if I set the settings to 1920*1080 and everything to low, I still have problems when I build something. Conveyor belts are particularly bad because that's when it stutters the most. The moment I place the conveyor belt and when it is finished being built. If you look closely, the conveyor belt is finished being built, then the view becomes blurry and it looks as if it is being finished again, which causes the worst stuttering.

Playing is just not fun at the moment, which is a shame because I really like the game.

I can't say anything about multiplayer, I don't know anyone who is currently playing it. I can't create a server, I have no idea how that works, drivers are up to date

Here's a solution that worked for me:

- Load a game
- Go to video settings
- Change every shadow settings on anything
- Apply and go back to the game
- Go back to video setting
- Set every shadow settings to minimum
- Apply
- Play

It seems that there's a problem with shadow management, and that even if you set them to minimum, this won't be saved for the next game. In this case, you'll have to modify the settings during a game to ensure that they are taken into account.

Hopefully they'll incorporate this change in the next update.
I have found the solution.

When I join a friend in multiplayer, the problems disappear, even the level 5 conveyor belts, which caused the worst stuttering, no longer cause any problems. Or when I start a new game, I have no problems either.

Unfortunately, the problem is my 800+ hour save game, which was probably "broken" at some point when I saved it. I also used the satisfactory calculator to delete a production, perhaps something was "broken" when I saved it. I'm afraid there's no way to fix that.
