Are you in a red forrest? If so, that is one of the most dangerous parts of the map.

Yeah its wild. Enemies got tuned up way too much in 1.0 IMO. Fortunately you can turn enemy aggression down without affecting achievements and stuff, I just put them on retaliate because it was just not fun exploring while being constantly gangbanged by hogs and spitters.

midle left of the map the forest with lots of poison pits. i was entering it and was like 200m in i got overrun by mobs had to reload like 15 times the hogs shoot me from whatever cover i get the spitters bomb me with plasma and instant spiders jump from the trees. thats a deathtrap. i know that the red forest was hard but that one is just crazy

you can make creatures passive if it s too hard in
a place

Can always try nukes. They are a bit pathetic when you consider all the warnings from Ada

Yeah I finally begrudgingly set the animals to retaliate. Which is a bummer, because I enjoy the tension they bring. Finding and entering a cave for the first time... fighting your way to the end to collect your treasure(s). Coming around a hill, blinded by the six foot tall "bushes" only to come face to face with a small hoard of critters. It's a great part of the game, but they over did it, and the respawns are too quick. Putting up buildings to stop respawns just feels.... cheap. Been playing last couple days like this... exploring is much easier, but also boring. The tension and excitement of a good fight is gone from the game now... but it's better than getting railroaded every 300 meters every 3 days.

so some advice: bring a chainsaw. cut down a lot of trees. this gives you clear lines of site, so you can choose how to engage.

for hogs, a lookout tower is great. it gets you some height and cover, and blocks most projectiles (but not all knockback from same). a rifle is a great survival weapon as well, bring lots of ammo, hogs are very durable. 20+ hits are needed for the larger hogs.

If you make foundations over the edge to the west coast you can trick hogs to jump down

I found the increased aggression in U8 was a larger shock.. 1.0 just brought 1 or 2 new enemies to learn to handle, and mob groups aren't much larger.

I only started exploring after getting jetpack + 2-3 stacks of turbo fuel, gun with 2-3 stacks of ammo and 12+ inhalers. With turbo fuel you can skip most of the enemies. Combat is fun with jetpack and gun.
Spitters are very easy to dodge. Strafe until they spit and switch direction as they predict where you will be instead of spitting where you are. Repeat and they shouldn't be able to hit you very often.
Spiders are the same except they chase you for a long time and can keep up even if you are flying, switch direction when they make noise as they will jump shortly after.
Large/nuclear hogs are imo hardest to deal with as they can take few mags to kill and their rock throw doesn't have as clear of a tell.
Bee spawners you can just hold crouch and they won't spot you even if you shoot them or go close and hit them with a sword.

Swamp is really fun..... really.... big stingers EVERYWHERE, and do not forget the gas pillars EVERYWHERE. Now I am hard thinking to set enemies to passive, this should be a factory game with exploring, but it is more survival horror instead. I call it a day trying to fight off small stringers, along with a bit bigger stringers, and two green BIG stingers. Running away is also impossible

Somethings I miss:

- Able to block attacks, pioneer is passively taking every hit (even moving sideways does not always work)
- Maybe a shield (can be OP, but with a group of enemies it is hard to block all of them)
- Having the ability to create an armor (pioneer makes all kind of stuff, but does not think about protecting herself against enemies with iron plates?)
- Less density of strong enemies, or add the three points above to balance it
- Having the ability to dodge attacks (pioneer did not train on basic survival skills?)
