When drones deliver items, they are placed in the drone port, which you can then belt out. If the storage is full, i.e. the output isn't being consumed locally, then the drone can't empty, so will sit there until something has used enough of the items, making space in the port, allowing the drone to empty, at which point it will take off.
So they don't wait at the hanger they were made? They should only wait at the hanger they were made so they couldn't stop traffic.
And which drone port are you talking about?
First, is that you didn't only transport Fuel to other ports. You also have *something* on the port that requests Fuel. That is why it tries to transport it back to the Fuel port. You should check if there any thing in the incoming port on the Fuel Port.
Second, is that you try to do a two-way transport. For example, transport Fuel to other ports but also transport the Empty Canister back. Which somehow clogs the incoming port. That is why it didn't go back because it still has something to unload.
So, you should check if your incoming port in the Drone port has anything in it. The Outgoing Port should have only Fuel.
Any port where things are being delivered. Assuming this is the issue of course. If the issue is at an outgoing station (sending items, not receiving them), then this isn't the problem.
You can easily check by opening the problem port, check to see if there is anything in the 'Incoming' section, if this is full, then the drone can't deliver its cargo, so will just sit and wait till there is space.
For ref, drones carry 9 stacks, and the ports have 18 slots each for both incoming and outgoing, so assuming the drone was full, there would need to be at least 9 empty slots in the incoming side of the port for the drone to be able to fully deliver it's cargo, and then take off again.
