HOW good it will work though is another question.
I see people saying they do play on the deck, but the framerate might be a bit on the lower end, especially the longer you get into the game.
*Switching to Vulkan API for graphics rather than DX11 or DX12 is probably a good idea though at least.
I cap framerate at 30fps on Deck settings and in-game also, both for stability and for battery life. In my factory's currently small state, I'm even able to throttle TDP Limit to 5-ish Watts give or take a watt (sometimes 7), and still get stable [enough] 28-30 FPS.
I also highly recommend applying the second community Steam Input layout (David 15 Fingers' one for Steam Controller). The first (Nevir's "streamlined") seemed to be lacking some controls, I forget which now. The second one is also more intuitive I felt.

I actually found this to be a fairly pleasant interface, though a couple of the mappings were out of date.
