Dimensional depot gets prioritized over inventory - is there a way to change that?

When building stuff, materials are taken from the dimensional depot first and only then from the inventory. Isn't this supposed to work the other way round? Or is there an option to change this?

I think there is a box you can check that uses your inventory first.

Found the box, it's at the top of the dimensional storage menu in the inventory.
