Is multiplayer fixed ?
Hello there,

I am excited by the recent 1.0 release and I want to try the game again with a friend. However I am wondering if the multiplayer issuses that maked me stop playing in update 8 are still a thing ?

Is the sync between players fixed with dedicated servers ? Before 1.0, automatic vehicles where completly unusable, they always finished stuck in a wall, or falling through foundations. Has this been fixed ? Is it playable and enjoyable ?

I don't want to put a few hours in the game to finally give up once again...

Thanks,
JM445

I have the same question. I also stopped playing because the hypertubes and vehicles were unusable with the unsupported experimental dedicated server. I read that the dedicated server is now supported.

I created a new dedicated server yesterday, started a brand-new game, and have been playing with a friend without issues so far...but haven't yet gotten to the hypertubes or vehicles yet. Once I get to that point I will follow-up.

I have a dedicated server hosted on AWS (m7i-flex.large 4CPU 16RAM), my 150 hours game at tier 8 becomes laggy when there are more than 2 players on the server, kinda sketchy with 3 and more. I'm planning on scaling vertically (m7i-flex.2xlarge 8CPU 32RAM) to see if it improves performances, but it will increase significantly costs :(

You probably should start a fresh game with 1.0 release. 150 hours tells me that you imported a save. I'm not sure if all of the artifacts from previously saved games prior to 1.0 will work correctly based on comments I've seen. Pre-1.0 factories will likely break which is probably why you're seeing latency imo.

I wouldn't spend $$ on AWS if you have a spare PC laying around, but i'm not sure what your situation is. I used to be an AWS fanboy, but not worth it imo. Satisfactory dedicated servers favor higher single-core performance over multi-core based on the Fandom wiki. The only benefit would probably be the increased ram.

Good luck!

Well it's more cost efficient as I take advantage of the start/stop system. I'm not a big fan of AWS either but it's the cheapest way I found. And also I play with friends remotely. I don't have to do all the networking on my local network, and I have a decentralized way of starting the server, making it much more convenient to operate.

But you point about loading a save prior to 1.0 is fair, that might not help, even tho I didn't see anything weird about my existing factories. I might look into it, thx

Did you have issues with vehicules on that save before the 1.0 update ? If not it could be my home server that is not powerfull enough. It has nothing to do with a powerfull web server, but I thought an i7 intel NUC with 16gigs of RAM would be sufficient to run a satisfactory game server at least for the few dozen hours of early game

Depend on what kind you are talking about. Pathing road vehicles was impossible, everytime it went of track and get stuck. When we were driving it, it was kinda ok, lots of rollbacks but manageable. Trains also had lots of rollback, and sometimes looked like desynchronised but worked well.

Only major issue was, when driving a fast vehicles, like an explorer, and going in an unexplored direction or simply somewhere there were no building, you could get kicked by the server. I guess doing that you were asking the server to load some part of the map that were not loaded, asking too much bandwidth or too much processor work.

But 1.0 brought significants improvement on that issues, vehicles got less laggy, less rollback, even if the explorer problem with the map loading persist. I wanna try adding more compute to see if it solve the issue.

ALSO, if you have a processor powerful enough, I would recommend increasing the tick rate, improved vehicles lag pre 1.0.

Thank's for the tips, I will give it a try. My first concern was about automatic pathing vehicles, that were completly unusable pre-1.0. I had gave up on my previous play through before the trains were unlocked.

Not sure it can be solved in the current state of the game, I guess there will be future update to improve performances and netcode in the future, or at least that would be nice

Following-up. I completed Tier 4 after starting a fresh server and have Tractors and Hypertubes now. I'm not seeing any issues with the programmable Tractor routes, or the Hypertubes, although I've not tested them at great distances. I'm playing with two other friends and they aren't seeing any issues, either. I'll report back if things change.

Cool, I'm glad to hear that, I will give the game another try then !

Thank's for the infos.

Just don't play with the blueprint designer on multiplayer
