How many Hard Drives do you need for non-scanning stuff?

don't understand your question.....
you mean if are needed hard drive to unlock something not revelant to alternative recipes?

if is it.... don't think there's any.... if you aren't interested in alternative recipes, no need for hard drives.... may be an achivement is unlocked for first hard drive found....

also hard drives can unlock also unrelated thing to recipes, there's afaik one that give +6 personal inventory storage

Sorry if I was a bit unclear, a bit tired at the moment!

I meant like if there was anything Hard Drives were used for other than unlocking alternate recipes and the like, so I knew how many I needed to set aside before spending them on the somewhat-more-repeatable stuff.

Sorry if I was a bit unclear, a bit tired at the moment!

I meant like if there was anything Hard Drives were used for other than unlocking alternate recipes and the like, so I knew how many I needed to set aside before spending them on the somewhat-more-repeatable stuff.

I mean there are 2 required in a separate section of the mam for separate fuel recipes.

Also there are apparently atleast 100 hard drives or the new achievement requires multiple playthroughs

I got +6 inventory space from a harddrive. So its worth getting them even if you dont need the other recipes.

Devs already confirmed all achis can be done in a single playthrough. In early access there was always more drives available than alt. recipes. Dunno if that's still the case but there's defo more than 100 in the world.

I hope you are correct because some of the choices are a waste and garbage. First two choices were +6 inventory space (no, I'm looking for a decent alternate recipe) and a garbage recipe. Rerolled and got Charcoal (turn 1 wood into 10 charcoal) or Automated Miner (4 steel pipes & 4 plates for 1 automated miner)

Umm, I am already in phase 4 past coal power. Talk about horrible choices, they are so bad they make me want to stop playing. Why the hell would I want to go around and manually gather wood to turn into charcoal? And why the hell would I want to use steel pipes & plates to make automated miners which are just a very seldom used ingredient for actual miners?

That is one way to make the player regret not taking the 6 inventory spots when he is looking for recipes. smh
