What is the loud "bang" i hear every so often?
Is it a new sound for "it shut off b/c no inputs"?

Yeah that's likely what it is. I get this sound multiple times in a row whenever I fly across the map with my hypertube canon. Which is causing those geysers to rapidly render it as I travel, producing those sounds. The faster you travel, the more frequent it is.

Yeah, and it's not caused by drones, vehicles, trains, or alien tech, because I've heard it multiple times before having any of those.

The power is fine. I'm producing far more than my max consumption. I'm just trying to convey what the noise sounds a little bit like.

So no one else is hearing some sort of bang every so often (could be every 30 seconds, could be every 5 minutes), even when far away from your base?

i have the same problem , it appears absolutely random, doesnt matter where im.

This is definitely a thing and it happens each time you log in to your save as well. It has nothing to do with vehicle re-entry or power grids shutting down etc.

It has nothing to do with fuses or machines or vehicles. At least not directly. It's some kind of bug.
Fuse can still be related to a bug, and being the only "global" machine-like sound that we know it's one culprit. The bug could be something like you entering a new zone/chunk and client misinterpreting a fuse blow but then few milliseconds later actually loading the zone and stops the sound midway? Like it could load several chunks at the time and only last the one that connects those others to your power generators.

I don't know, i've never heard it. People may need to give a sound example.

It's not random, it is 100% connected to location. I can reproduce it 100%. Read my explanation earlier in this tread.

It could be a global audio que that is bugged, like ADA is supposed to say something, or "someone else" speaking to you... And the sound could just be a placeholder they forgot to remove or something similar.

i had a feeling this might be related to either:
- despawning dead entitys (if more than one enemy was killed
- despawning an artifact that has been collected

had this bang today after killing 2 fluffys
and then one after picking a somersloop up

edit: i confirm hearing the same sound whenever i have loaded a save
(playing dune desert near the oasis with the one dead titan tree)

I did notice there are two locations that seem to produce the sound a lot, so it might have some connection to your location, or what else is in range at that time. Doesn't mean that location is THE culprit, but it can play a role.

One area is in my base (no creatures close, no somersloop) and another area is between two outposts in an empty area. I don't see a connection yet.

The space portal was suggested. Since that is always 'around' it can always play a role, but the sound is centered on me as the player. The sound does not come from above as such.

You can also tell the exact coords as you can see them in the map. You can see it in top right corner as you move cursor.
I hear this too and it's driving me a little batty. I've noticed it's loudest up in the northern part of the Rocky Desert biome. I first noticed in the big cave system near the SAM node, but it's most prominent anywhere roughly in the upper third if the desert. My space elevator is currently on the other side of the map, so unless it's a sound emanating (narratively speaking) from the ring complex at the top of the elevator, it feels like an audio bug to me.

It's not a factory. It's not a machine. It's not power shutting down. It's not a resource well pressurizer since I was hearing it early-game long before I deployed my first resource well. The only thing I can imagine it might be related to is a bug on the geothermal generator's audio where the attenuation is carrying far beyond what it should be. But that seems less likely as I deploy more of these and it still seems localized and singular (i.e. one giant thud every so often).

Must be a bug. I hear it a lot, and there's no events like elevators or hub transports doing anything. These happen even when I'm nowhere near any machinery as well, It happens in some places more than others, and those places are in the middle of nowhere, just undeveloped wilderness, with maybe some foundations nearby.
akurathedragonblader 23 września 2024 o 11:15
I think it might be miners being loaded into the local zone with their inventories full. The most consistent I've heard it is when I'm traveling between my main base in the grassy fields to my oil wells on the western coast via hypertubes, where I have stop where I have a sulfur mine. Since I'm not at the point yet where I need sulfur for more then nobelisks, the miner itself always has a full inventory - I hear the boom often when I enter the general are that chunk would load.
sxl2 23 września 2024 o 11:17
I also experience this. I have a feeling it's related to the game loading/streaming in sound and animation for sectors when I approach them from a distance.
Elaclaire 23 września 2024 o 11:27
I also hear a sound on a regular basis. Only it is not a banging sound, but.... As if the pressure in the cylinder is being released.

Sometimes this sound is heard several times a minute, sometimes once every few minutes. I noticed that even the boombox music is muffled at the moment when this sound is heard.

All my factories are located on the Grassy Plateau, and I hear this sound from any point on the map. Whether I am standing still, riding a tractor, flying with a parachute, this sound always appears. I can hear it even among the factory noise, if I try. I have no idea what this sound is. Is this really our pioneer... releasing pressure?

I can make a video of me getting 10 "booms" in 10 minutes.

I gave a short description on how to do it earlier in this thread.

It has to do with location, nothing else.
If this is connected to lore and not a bug, I will eat my beard.

If you wouldn't mind, please do make and post that video, and provide a link in this thread for the discussion folks, as well as in a thread in the bug reports forum so the devs have an example to go by.

Showing map position and coordinates would help too.

I've been puzzling over this since the first threads about it started, but all I've ever had is the occasional sound of a flying plasma/fireball from a Spitter, which I always put down to a potshot from one I pass by while ziplining from place to place, as that was the only time I've heard any out-of-place sounds in 1.0 and I've had it in several travel directions.

Having someone else's example would be a good step forward.

EDIT: Naturally, Wingblaze's video was posted about a minute after I started typing this up originally....
