Dimensional Depot: how to feed it without the belt being blocked by a 'full' item?
So it only takes so many stacks of each item. Well without 1 of these dimensional depot per per item, or one belt connected to the dimensional depot IN A UNIQUE PORT per item, how are you supposed to feed it every item without blocking everything else once it won't take more of a specific item and that specific item blocks the belt?

If this is not addressed, seems to make it just a glorified bigger personal inventory since you'd have to feed it MANUALLY to avoid this issue, which means you're still going back to your factories to pick up items and manually restock it.

Am I missing something?

(EDIT: one way to address it: an output belt that can be for overflow connect to a sink: so when an item comes in but the dimensional space is full, that one item is immediately sent to the output belt, and that belt can be connected to a sink. But not sure they have this implemented.)

(EDIT: Even if you can build a lot and have 1 per two items, for example, it can still block one of them when the other gets full)

EDIT: It seems you need the special resource, that seems very limited in the game, if not FINITE, to build each of these dimensional depots. So it seems you won't be able to build one of them per item = the INPUT BELT to the depot will be forced to have different items and hence get BLOCKED by an item that's "full" = back to square one: you have to revisit blocked dimensional depots to feed it manually by putting items in a feeder normal depot that will not 'block' the belt.

Pretty sure you can build way more than just one.
As for feeding: They work in that case like the regular storage bin.

We can build multiple uploaders to feed multiple items, from multiple sources to the depot. It is NOT meant to be fed MANUALLY. How did you even get that idea from the video? That is the whole reason behind the dimensional depot!

Otherwise, like Wolfgang said, think of it as a normal storage container. How do you feed multiple items to a single storage container right now?

Just build one for every item you want to store in there. These won't be that many. If my current storage system is anything to go by you might need like 30 or so.

The Dimensional Depot Uploader has an inventory slot that holds ONE STACK.

It the queues that item to slowly upload into the Dimensional Cloud if there is room, if there is no room in the Cloud (in the video the cloud has 3 stack capacity)... its holding a Stack still inside it,

So by the time the belt blocks, your already too late. Manually managing this, or using a complex logic build or belt work won't work.

You will just need to build one per item, prioritise main building materials at first. (Concrete, Wire, Cable, Rods, Plates etc). You can manually upload the other items from your inventory (like say Biofeul stacks or ammunition). There should be enough Mercer spheres to both build enough for most high use items... and do all the MAM research.

The resources to build these dimensional depots is limited so it may take quite a while (if even possible) to build 1 dimensional depot per item type.

And putting more than one item type on a belt = they all get blocked when one item type is full.

Easy fix: have the EXIT of the dimensional depot be an "overflow" that you can connect to a sink. It's my impression they didn't think of this, so these depots are only good for one item per depot, otherwise it's back to manually fixing it when they INEVITABLY get blocked.

(Or constantly checking it to see what's full and deleting a stack from the 'cloud', which is impractical when you have some items been pushed into the dimensional depot at a high rate).

You have more than enough of the limited resources to build a lot of them.

it would be way too overpowered if this was possible. So the devs obviously did think about this :)
So now it's a matter figuring out how much of these depots you can make and which items you can refill fast enough to match your building speed.
1200 Concrete per minute in a cloud must be charming somehow.

It requires Mercer Spheres and IIRC you need one per depot. With the current over 200 Spheres on the map you can build multiple per resource.

wow that many? guess I never collected all of them but yeah was gonna go for one depot per resource myself

You could do that or, do it like me, only one depot per building resource (plus two for filters so in case you go out exploring for long or your nuclear power plant is down and irradiated) you will end up with maybe 40 depots at maximum.

If I remember correctly there will be more mercer spheres in 1.0 (but less sloops)

my idea is to a storage unit set up with a large storage with a smart slitter in front of it to get rid of over flow once full and have the depo connected to the back so it filled up first.
Derelicthor 2024년 9월 9일 오전 6시 38분
The only solution i can think of is:

Depot>Storage>Sink, separated with splitters. Each resource will need its own depot.

Belt coming from production to smart splitter, 1 output as any connected to a buffer storage and this one to the depot (so you wont run out easily of said resource if anything happens) and other output set as overflow directly to a sink.

The good news is you'll be exploring the whole map for the alternate recipes and some slugs anyway.

I like building a central storage location so a depot on top of each resource storage stack seems like a workable approach to me.

smart splitter? send overflow away?
