Arachnophobia, AGS and Achievements
Yesterday Snutt dropped this:
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2241545339?t=1h29m8s
Activating AGS will deactivate all achievements.

And it very much seems everyone at CSS forgot about the true Arachnophobia setting which, for whatever reason, is still part of AGS. I can not express my frustration enough that I have to use a mod to get rid of the spiders if I want to get achievements, just because you guys think that removing spiders is somehow making the game a ton easier. By that logic, you have to also include every setting for creature hostility in there since that is making the game also a ton easier. And yet, we can find this setting in the regular gameplay options.

There is absolutely no reason for having it that way since the introduction of AGS. But hey, good to know that those that are both creeped out by the human sized spiders and by the glitchy, floaty, ever-at-you-staring cat heads are not at all important to you and that the setting is just for show. Seriously, thank you for the giant middle finger. It is so nice to see that you don't give a single ♥♥♥♥ about those that would like to use that setting and get achievements.

And to anyone saying "Maybe it won't be in AGS in 1.0": The simple fact that they put it in AGS in the first place gives me no hope that this might be the case.

Arachnofobia isn't in the AGS panel...
If you activate arachofobia it won't deactivate achiemevent

if you want to completely disable monsters, that will deactivate achievements

Wrong
[Disable Arachnid Creatures] is in AGS, which is a problem for people with arachnaphobia.
You confused this setting with the regular cat mode.
Passive mode is in general settings and therefore doesn't disable achievements.

Technically you are both saying the same thing.

Arachnophobia mode (cat heads) is in the regular options, and doesn't disable Achievements
Disable the Stingers completely is in the AGS, and does disable Achievements

Hence why I say "true arachnophobia" in the OP. And that is an AGS setting. Which is exactly the issue as it doesn't belong there at all.

Arachnophobia is a treatable condition, and with the right approach, individuals can learn to manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
It’s essential to work with a mental health professional to develop a personalized treatment plan.
Avoidance behaviors can exacerbate the phobia, so gradual exposure and desensitization are crucial components of effective treatment.

So maybe try a mental health professional for your mental illness? Please note the: "Avoidance behaviors can exacerbate your phobia."

You're welcome.

So by that, the devs should get rid of both arachnophobia settings?
Btw, congrats on copy/pasting from Wikipedia, maybe next time you should cite your source.

My issue is not spiders in general but the specific spiders in the game.

Like your unreasonable complaints about spiders and game settings? There are correct forums for Satisfactory game feedback. :)
Wolfgang Sep 5, 2024 @ 5:35am
"Unreasonable" huh? Alright, explain to me why true arachnophobia mode is an AGS setting but creature hostility isn't.
Scrawl Sep 5, 2024 @ 5:38am
I don't need to explain anything to you. Take your complaints/feedback up in the proper forum. Unless you're just here to complain?
I doubt very much that using accessibility settings will disable achievements once they're added. The backlash over something so discriminatory would destroy much and many. It's far to insensitive, feckless, and boneheaded a move to imagine without first-hand evidence anyone but the most idiotic developers would ever make.

Look for arachnophobia settings in the options menu on the 10th, not world settings. Bring it up if you don't find it. Things will proceed from there, so to speak.

Unreasonable would also imply that what I'm asking for is not doable or feasible. Removing it from AGS and having it be part of the normal settings (even combined with the arachnophobia setting there) it both feasible and doable. I'm pretty sure the devs are more than qualified enough for that.

So you have no point to warrant your "unreasonable" classification. How desperate are you for the clown award?

We can only hope but I'm not optimistic that they have thought about it.

Great. Just that this isn't really doing anything for the issue at hand.
Yeah it is, learn to appreciate spiders for the interesting animals that they are. Why is the cat picture setting not enough? Maybe it should just replace all the spider like enemies with hogs, which I understand isn't as meme worthy and they're a pretty meme-y developer.
