Can't tell Which Direction a Valve Blocks Flow
I am trying valves for the first time on a pipeline. I can reverse where the valve and gauge appear on the pipe using the mouse wheel but this appears to have no effect on the flow arrows. No matter which facing of the valves I use the flow arrows always point the same way. If I jump to the other side of the pipe and view the valve gauge the arrows point the other way but this is misleading. changing the flow setting on either side has the same effect. The problem is I don't know what it is doing. I have two tanks and and I split a pipeline after a junction and send one pipe into each tank. I want to turn the valve off on one tank so the other fills first. How do I do this? I cannot tell which direction a valve is blocking/ limiting. Any help appreciated.

One: You need to point the valve to the container from where the fluid comes from

pipes with fluid ---- valve > ---- container

That will fill the container and not let the fluid flow back in the pipes

Two: To get the Fluid out of the container

Container ---- valve > ---- pipes

Valve needs to be on 300 or 600 (mk1 or mk2) to let it flow well. I think you accidentally placed the valve the wrong way

On the valve there is a small red turnable wheel and a pressure gauge. If you draw a line from the red wheel to the pressure gauge, thats the direction its going.

It shouldn't matter. Valves are one way. If you put it on wrong, it will block the flow. If you put it on correctly and close the Valve is should close so it should be getting blocked.

Are the pipes full?

If you place them, you get a green arrow to say where it flows to, else there is an arrow kind of shaped ending to the valve to indicate where it flows to
there is a big hologram arrow showing direction when you place the valve.

Just ignore those right arrows in that valve ui panel. They're just static jpegs. The hologram arrows, and also the pointy side on the valve themselves, will indicate the flow direction.

Cool, you can use google. Can we get back to having a discussion about the game on this forum meant for discussing the game?

@Crunchy[DaZ] Thank you, it is not obvious when placing a valve which way it flows. I don't recall see moving blue arrows like you get when you place a pump. My pipes are full, no easy way to measure which direction the valve is blocking. As a new user I had no way of knowing that the red arrow and direction arrows within the valve interface are eye candy only. I would expect them to be actual indicators. Can you clarify your statement "On the valve there is a small red turnable wheel and a pressure gauge. If you draw a line from the red wheel to the pressure gauge, thats the direction its going." does this mean that the line from wheel to guage is direction of flow that the valve will block? Thank you in advance.

@TH3R4BB!T I'm sorry but I see no green arrows.

@Paragon I'm sorry but your post was not helpful, and in fact comes across as patronizing. I performed half a dozen Google searches and spent 20 minutes reviewing information prior to posting to the community. The diagram you reference is not clear. For instance it has all valves aligned the same way with no reverse case examples. Further there is no depiction of the valve interface from the opposite side of the pipe. Nor is there any indication that the arrows in the interface are static bitmaps only.

@RadioIesbian Fluid I see the blue hologram but its not clear to me which side the valve will block from the blue image.

@Pokie! I had no idea thank you!

how is this not clear? it shows direction.

Well, if you can't see the arrows, what do you see? Have you a screenshot on how you place them?
Even if you cant see the three huge arrows the shape of the valve is tapering down in flow direction, like a funnel.

Even without the hologram Arrow, it’s pretty clear, The fatter side is the input direction and the side that narrows and has an arrow like shape \_/ is the output direction.

The direction of the valve is painfully obvious - I fail to understand how this is not easily understood.

Not that I'd use them all that much in the first place to be honest.

Yea its extremely clear. Read post #8 and I wasn't patronizing you. Doesn't take a genius or Google to figure out your "issue"
