Mega factory concept
I want to have a dedicated building for each resource. Size 32 by 16 for each building. As many floors as needed in each one. Fully modular. Road network using tractors or trucks to move the resources between buildings as needed.

I do plan on making the oil locally due to high water demand and bring the yield by train at the very edge of the factory. Along with the other resources needed such as copper and iron. One train station for each resource at the mega factory.

Is this viable? Is this a 2 IQ or 200 IQ play?

its a measure of Intelligence. "Intelligence quotient"

The second result of a google search brought it up.

Do it 7x7 and have fun! 7x7 = 49 IQ..... else go with 12x12 = 144 IQ

Megafactories take megaplanning.

You have to plan for the number of belts, trains, trucks coming in for now and into the future. You have to make the space for it. If you want to build a section for rods, then you have to make the space now and into the future if you plan on expanding it.

If you want to sink overflow, you have to plan on where all the space for the sinks will be. In short, unless you plan big, you will probably find yourself running out of space for expansion.

Instead of a building for every resource, I suggest making a resource from every mining node. For instance, a pure and normal iron node connected to an iron plate factory will scale to endgame belt speed of 1200.

Find nodes, connect those to a single factory that builds your resource. Having smaller factories spaced apart is easier when dealing with expanding many different resource manifolds. Instead of being in all one location, making expansion challenging, they are now more spaced apart, making expansion easier.

If you like using the various transportation, this is also fun, since it gives you a lot of buildings to connect too.

If you want a megafactory, you can still add one for say higher tier parts. Have all the smaller buildings doing the low tier and send those to a megafactory to create higher tiers.

Thanks. That is a good idea. Making basic stuff locally like ingots and plates. And all the complex stuff at home. I might try that.
