Cannot set a water extractor just off the west coast of the Rocky Desert.

This is a prime location for anything needing water but just off the coast you can't set a water extractor. It drops into the void and if you fall into the water you also fall into the void and die. Devs please fix quickly.

I would add that is pretty generic "west of rocky desert". Myself never had problems in there.... more precise location?

off the edge of the map? I have dozens of water extractors set up on the west coast with no problem. I have a platform that extends right to the map edge and have no problems so long as I stay on the good side of the boundary.

It's not, it starts just 20 or 30 meters off the coast. I've encountered the place the OP is talking about and it's not far from shore. Just fall through the world and nothing can be set there.

(Edit: just west is, I agree, a bad description though; it's more north kinda between where the major oil nodes are the 4 coal nodes are in the north near the coast. So *in between those two spots*)

Sorry, it is West of the Rocky Desert in the water just off the coast and to the North of the oil nodes. A number of creeks also outflow there. It is not off the edge of the map. I made sure by building foundations way beyond where this happens and it is not the kill zone.
