How to connect portable miners to conveyor belts?

You can't. Sorry. The're for the first few hours until you unlock the static miners.

This question was so common during EA, that ADA even talks about how you can't do this. I get how you could miss that; I just think it's funny they put that in. :D

it's simple....
pick the portable miner and put it into a real miner, deploy real miner

Only way is pick the miner up and drop it on a belt, it may not work, but at least you tried

Of course eventually you will need to automate making non-automated miners in order to automatically have what you need to build the automatic miners

The portable miners are automated, else you need to swing a wheel to mine ore

They are great for dumping a load on limestone to make foundations early game.

I always have 12 on limestone even though I now have concrete factory mining 3x 60 ore nodes giving me 45 concrete a minute.

Hours? More like 15-30 minutes.

You can automate it like you can automate bio fuel production. There is a machine called "The Pioneer" that you should insert into the production line.
