Radiation Shielding
Am I missing something or is there no radiation shielded pieces that can be placed? I am going through filters quickly trying to build out plutonium manufacturing. It's become a huge dissatisfier for me. Is this a future QoL add-on coming or is there something I can do now? Constructive responses only, please.

You have unlocked the phenomenal and totally safe Ficsit-Hazmat Suit I guess?
JustSmile Oct 13, 2024 @ 1:35pm
No, Ficsit does not provide the Pioneer with radiation shielding beyond a rudimentary hazmat suit. It's cheaper to replace one when it dies of cancer.

I like to wait until i'm finished building the entire factory before turning on production that involves radioactive materials since it's a pain to manage filters. If you're having trouble I recommend routing everything radioactivr to an isolated storage facility ( the cave behind the waterfall in the swamp is my favorite spot ).

Do you mean filters the ones for radioactivity ?
there's two filters... gas and radioactivity
Jack-o-Lantern Oct 13, 2024 @ 1:37pm
It's same as in real life....
body suit that you see in real life, are to protect to get in contact with radioactive material... and not to prevent radiation... like in game it just give some but not total

filters should be automatically applied as they consume....

anyway just never build huge containers with full stacks of radioactive material.... and if possible build a just in time factory to minimize radioactive elements around the factory

Short of putting the stuff in a container that is 23 meters away... no.

Yes, I am trying to build JIT, but I don't have a good I/O reference to go by so I am having to experiment. So, there is a lot of waste that's buffered.

And yes, I am building this all in the swamp.

I learned it the hard way....
I was used to always but an industral container as a bugger around everything....

so started my nuclear experience with a miner and a container to start...
and let it to fill up as I went to a nearby area for all actual factory stuff..
When getting back, radioactivity was really high.... and it was just uranium ore....

had to quickly stop miner, place a sink and empty it....
but this let me to rethink all factory in a different way

now 12 nuclear power plants.... and you can walk around the plants and factories around them .... even without a suit on... you get some radiation, but so little that isn't a problem if you don't stay too much time (minutes) in very few hot spots

also consider that not all items are equally radioactive....
so.... don't build up them in a container that even if very little, if you stuck thousand of them.. will be a LOT....

and check radiation of various items.... some can be easy to handle as a belt full isn't anyway too much radiation.... other items.... better be cautious

Regarding QoL: keep in mind that there is a bug that causes radiation to stick and deal continued damage if you sort your inventory while having radioactive items in it even after you remove those items from your inventory. If you move away from a radiation source but continue getting radiation damage, that's why. You'll have to reload the game or it will kill you if you run out of iodine filters.

Just mix some filters into a manufacturer and send it into a dimensonial depot.

Just set up once a Dimensional Depot Uploader feeding from Manufacturer producing them filters, and forget about this problem forever

Radiation Filter (Iodine-Infused Filter) at max radiation lasts 12 seconds.
That is 5 per minute. Which is 5 gas masks, 5 Alum Casings and 40 Quickwire.

A full stack will last 10 minutes

Yep, hop to automating the filters. For what you're doing it looks like you need them.
