I've added a screenshot to my OP to show what I mean. I mean it's less than half the space that you would think is available if you scroll around the undiscovered map before working out what the actual perimeter is.
It's still pretty big, just disappointing compared to what I thought it would be.
Hmm, I can see your point, though I never felt like that and I played the game for so long that perhaps I have a different perspective.
Just make more land yourself.
One think I never fully understand is why the devs never planned for making nodes only spawn in some areas. So: Red Forrest only has Quarts, Titan Forest only has Bauxite, Uranium only in Swamps..... So that you are kind of forced to explore those areas, and transport. Probably it also would make it 'too hard'
Not exactly, I was "complaining" (more like an observation) that the amount the map lets you scroll around makes it look bigger than it actually is.
But once you've explored most it it, turns out that the amount of it that you can actually use (excluding surrounding oceans and insta-death boundaries) is a lot less.
To put it in blunt terms (for purposes of explaining my point) it feels a bit bait and switchy.
There are a lot of rough edges in this game and this probably just one of them.
