Smart Splitters
Yeah I know people have a lot of issues with them. Do they even work at all? I have one belt feeding in steel beams and steel pipes. The first smart splitter is supposed to split out steel beams into storage. It constantly lets steel beams through and it backs up the next splitter which is supposed to split out the steel pipes. It seems like the fact it has an item buffer is what makes these things broken. I tried a slower belt feeding in thinking I could give it time to sort and still fails. Any tips or tricks on how to make these work?

Make sure that the presumably centre output for the pipes either has "steel pipes" selected, or "any undefined". If it's left to "all" then it will output all.

So one output is set to "Steel Beams" - The other output, is it set to "Any Undefined"?

Kinda hard to tell whats going on without seeing what your filters are set to

Any means any, including the steel pipe. You see some getting through because as far as steel pipes go, it's functioning as a normal splitter.

Since the splitter defines steel pipes in one direction, it will refuse to allow pipes to go through "any undefined". Even if it means clogging up the belt. "Overflow" is a good in between option, as it will allow less steel pipes to sneak through, but will never clog in scenarios where "any undefined" could.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I have it figured out now. Any undefined on the unwanted output seems to be the key.
