Hidding Mercer Sphere - Grass Fields
I'm currently trying to find various objects like summer sloop, mercer spheres and hard drives I'm running into some trouble with one of them as I seem to be unable to the find the access for that mercer sphere.

It's in the south pretty close to the spawn area in an area with multiple stones in a somwhat circular formation.

I can hear the sphere pretty close under ground but it is inaccessible. I've checked the area for cave entrances, cracks in the ground and even tried to blow up the rocks but so far no success. Any suggestions?

You can toggle caves on that map actually.
Think that was one I picked up yesterday actually in the cave under there.
The entrance was down towards the edge.

there are blue power slugs on the end of that cave.

When I go into a cave I usually explore it properly - or at least I'll try to

Finding some of these cave entrances can be tricky at times though.

Yeah they can be really well hidden, some you'll need to blow up the entrance on as well.
Also spiders....

There are also caves that you have to crouch to enter. (1.0 added some nice (i.e. frustrating) caves)

There's no toggle for caves on the in game map, there's a marker you can manually add to mark caves as you find them.

You can also add them without opening the map; hold alt and right click and it will bring up the stamp list and you can mark your map as you walk around exploring. Any time you see something you want to remember the location of, alt+rick click and stamp your map as you go.

I freaking hate spiders. I went around to place radar towers in areas I hadn't explored yet and in one situation I suddenly had 4 giant spiders chasing me....

....for quite a while....

There are a "few" seriously dangerous areas. But at least I have something of a cable network now to do quick escapes...

Those big towers they added in update 8 are great for a travel network now.
I did learn they can jump on top of them at times... /shiver.
No idea how they did it but I can't remember another game mob that creeps me out like those do...., brilliant and horrifying at once :)
