Signs default to upside down. Every time.
I cannot see a way to determine which way it "up" without placing the sign. I just loaded into a save and it default to upside down again. Is there a way to tell which way the signs are facing? Or better yet, a fix for this? I'm trying to put signs around to help my friends navigate but the consistent upside down signs is slowing that down considerably to the point I don't want to even use signs.

Known bug, Low Priority, might not be fixed, we might just have to deal with it.

I am curious. What practical purpose would I ever use an upside down one? Forgive my nievite

I made a series of blueprints for the labels I use. I have a stack of small signs giving input amounts and output amounts by every machine or array of machines as well as bigger set for the full factory. So I have blueprints for a stack of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 signs so I can just plop down the stack I need and quickly go through to make the labels right.

All that to say- if you use a specific sign type a lot- and you make a blueprint for it, it should preserve the correct orientation.

I noticed it too, but like Fenix said, it's low priority for now and I while I have been using them extensively this latest save, I deal with it.

No game is ever prefect and there are many aspects to this game that annoy me, but the overall experience far out ways those petty grievances. But keep posting, CSS probably monitors discussions and that might move it up the list to be fixed.

Mine all stay right side up until I rotate it with the mouse wheel. Once I do that then they're always upside down.

This.

And why is this a feature?

Not the case here. The first sign I tried placing upon loading the save was upside down. I did not rotate it.
In another thread someone suggested it was done intentionally to annoy Australian users, wondering the validity of such a claim.

Looks very practical to me. Guess we better leave the bug in there lol

A solution for now: lock the hologram first before building it, press the Up arrow, if it goes in whichever direction but NOT up, it's oriented incorrectly (obviously); unlock the hologram, roll the mousewheel until it's correct and then build.

BAM

Me too. I'm so curious to see this bug though, how do you replicate it? Actually tried 5-10 min thinking I was doing something unique in placing signs but whether I create from menu, hotbar, N search then trigger construction --> always starts correct side up.

Is there some other method of sign placement maybe that is causing other folks issues?

To OP not for me.

I believe that if you hold the ctrl button when you're rotating the panel it will 'set' the default position of the panel. For example, before placing a sign, note where the "brackets" are in the ghost image, then hold down the ctrl and rotate to a preferred alignment, relase the ctrl and build. Repeat until satisfied. Worked for me, although this may not be a "fix" as intended.
