1.005 killed C++ mods
Steam really needs a full funtionality in which we can decide NOT to update. Im so done with devs not caring about the mod world...

They can barely get their own game right. The belt dupe bug showed just how little they test internally or think about the garbage they are typing into their code editor. Probably too distracted trying to get likes on social media.

^^ - also fwiw, if you didn't set auto update off, and got a patch you don't like, you can always use the manual steam manifest method to revert back to older version. Too long to type here, so just google steam and reverting back to older game version - it's not super easy but not rocket science either -> basically you use manifest ID to redownload the older executables, etc.

Really? Under properties > updates I have 3 options: Update it, update it when I launch the game, update it RIGHT NAOW! Could you be a pal and direct me to the setting you're referring to?

I seem to recall we used to have an option not to update without specific user input, but that's long gone. So is my memory, so I might be wrong about the option ever existing.

On what game does an update not affect mods? Crying about this is hilarious. This should really make the devs shudder...LOL

Ironic to say this on this game. Coffee Stain are showing mods every week on their live stream.
The fact that if you change the game you WILL get an overwhelming amount of error reports if it tries to fire up a mod on a newer version should tell you something.
They are working on official mod support so that might even change.

This is correct, so what should have been said is if you want to avoid the delayed update, you can't use the steam interface to launch the game. e.g. steam UI or any use of desktop/menu icons with steam://rungameid/###### path.

If you wish to avoid auto update from launch, you need to launch the game manually. e.g. shortcut the game EXE directly or whatever starts the game.

For example, when I want to avoid some No Man's Sky update, I'd just directly launch "...\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries\NMS.exe" instead of allow steam to run steam://rungameid/275850 via UI launcher or pre-made shortcut.

For Satisfactory, not sure or forgot which EXE it counts, but it's either "...\steamapps\common\Satisfactory\FactoryGameSteam.exe" or "\steamapps\common\Satisfactory\Engine\Binaries\Win64\FactoryGameSteam-Win64-Shipping.exe"

Yeah man them fixing bugs related to modding really shows how much the don't care about mods, right?

Yes one of the fixes is to fix some bugs in a .h file. If you change a .h file your code needs to be recompiled. It's just the way c++ works

The devs care (at least Snutt does) about mods.
But bug fixing trumps mods every time.
Do You expect the dev team give the mod makers the patch early, so they can fix the mods before they release it?
That would be stupid.
Face it, patches are going to break mods every single time.
It’s not the devs job to make sure mods work.

Yes, how dare the devs fix bugs! They are so irresponsible. And when they aren't doing anything they are just lazy! They suck! /s
