Do you use walls?

I just realized I dont really use walls because theyre only in the way really, I think so far I have used them to hold up more floors and thats about it.

Yeah I create buildings for every factory/part I'm making for the most part. Helps keep things organized and allows for easy use of power wall sockets and moving conveyors/pipes around using wall/ceiling mounts.

I've built one wall so far. It's to keep me from being shot into the abyss because I put a hypertube exit next to a cliff.

Yeah, the conveyor walls + wall pipe mounts help out a lot when it comes to vertical stacking of factories.

The walls and roofs can improve performance by reducing the amount of complexity in the render, but the more glass you use you add that complexity right back, so it is a balancing act for performance. If your system is strong enough to ignore that then it becomes purely a cosmetic issue.

I use walls but often skimp on the roofs.

The walls are mostly to either keep out the aggressive fauna or to keep me from falling to my death in the void.
