Stackable conveyor belts
Are the stackable conveyor belt legs supposed to fit on existing conveyor belts? If they don't the really should.

They stack on each other but can also stand above an existing conveyor line that is on the floor. it lines up and fits well but it wont snap to the ground level belt.
In my opinion though you should avoid ground level belts as they make moving around factory a little harder. So I always just use stackables so I Can walk under them.

stackable conveyor poles are a pain in the a** because you never know how long the belt will be, unless you count the foundations.

They should really change that, so that if you place the next stackable too far away it should get red like if you wanna build a too long belt. This would be way easier to build and would not require foundations.

I always count the foundations. I put a stack down every 6th foundation. Then I go and run the belts between the stacks.
you can stretch to 7 foundations but 6 is easier to work with. I put power poles 12 apart even though they can go 12.5.

Doing it this way for me makes everything very consistent and predictable

No one answered your question. Funny... No, you can't. And nobody knows why the devs made it this way, because it's really annoying.

You can nudge them on top of an existing belt.
Would be nice if there was a snapping point for the stackable poles ontop of the normal pole.
Tho its not a huge deal, i plot out one belt then i know the spacing and i can just make the stackable pole framework where the normal supports are.

I thought OP meant if there's a way to do it without a workaround.

IIRC there was a time you could place a stackable pole over an existing belt. It just didn't snap to this floorbelt, but that didn't really matter. Last week I was creating a bus of 5 layers and the stackable poles just disappeared when hovering over an existing belt. Pls correct me if I'm wrong... ;)

By the way, you can slide under ground level conveyor belts, which is very useful for navigating your factory. I accidentaly learned it, and now it's not an obstacle for me.

you can place them anywhere on an existing belt. problem is mainly knowing the distance between them, which is why it would be nice if they could snap to existing supports.

Had no problems making this 12 (3x4) belt bus to make my copper powder:

Then I have an issue on my computer. Just checked. Selected a stackable pole and tried to place it over an existing belt (ground level). The stackable pole is blue until I'm exactly above the belt. It then disappears and I'm not able to place it (LMB to place it does nothing). So for me the only option is placing the stackable poles first and then the groundlevel belts. Is absolute no problem with new routes. But the other day I had a long belt running from a miner to a range of machines and wanted to add a few layers of belts through stackable poles exactly on THAT spot. Had to remove (parts of) the groundlevel belt in order to place stackable poles. It's not a disaster, just very inconvenient.

You can nudge them over the belts by pressing H before placing it down and then moving it over the belt.

Ah, got it. Thnx. Why should things ever be easy and/or intuitive. Why make it work in one click when we can put three clicks/keypresses in it...

It is possible to place them over a belt though, but it's finicky. You have to be able to aim under the belt (so no top down view)

Now THIS is useful information. It works like a charm. Consider my previous message as not being sent... ;)
