Are they ever going to fix the hoverpack?
I held off on playing 1.0, until they work out some of the kinks, but it looks like there are still a lot (looking at you pipes). The biggest one for me however is the hoverpack going from full power to no power to full power again. It's very hard to actually build anything without a working hover pack, so I hope they're prioritizing this.

All of that is wrong.

My hoverpack works great!

Dude, they increased the range you can be from Power outlets, to like 60ish meters, it was like less than 40m before.

I used it a fair bit and never encountered an issue. You're sure you aren't just moving out of range of your power sources?

I just want to check, do you mean it is doing the "off/on" thing whilst you're just stationary in an area it does have a connection in?

Been using my hoverpack like crazy - not had one issue with it.

You do realize that it needs to be within a certain range of a power pole/plug on a building right? (Not the wires!)

Does the distance to the nearest cable also count, or just the distance to outlets and poles?

Try deleting a rail. Even if there's another rail in range, it cuts your power. Placing a new rail is problematic too. Takes a lot longer for the hoverpack to kick in. If you're not using rails, then yeah, I can see why some haven't noticed it. Happens all the time to me now.

works like a dream on rail lines

I don’t think it works on cables just power attachment points.

Oh man, that explains a lot.

You never wondered why I've build this whole spider web around and trough our blueprinter? ...

I use it building rails that I'm constantly changing (i.e. deleting some) all the time, and I only have it dropout because I move too far away from a connected rail. Same if I'm deleting a power pole/tower it's connected to; it instantly connects to another.

You could be deleting a rail that's connecting to a station that's acutally got the power supplied to it, maybe?

Far as I know it has never worked with the power lines themselves as mentioned by Fenix.
It connects to anything that has a power connection point and you can see it doing the connection.
If you move around your base, you should see a white line link out to the nearest connection point.

Thank you. I was thinking like an electrical engineer instead I should have been thinking like a game programer. Calculating the nearest distance to each cable would be too much work. I always found the hoverpack too unpredictable, but with this new info I can design a better network coverage and surely it also helps that they increased the power range from under 40m to 60 meters.

Theoretically one attachment point right in the center under the MK3 blueprinter should be enough to cover the whole blueprinter plus some additional height (more in the center, less in the corners)

Time for a new try

Flying in this game is absolutely mandatory when factory building, otherwise you're constantly trying to keep your head above the water to see clearly. Just install the mod loader and use the Just Fly mod. Then when exploring turn flight off to keep it fun.
