Linux-Proton Performance problems since Update 1.0.0.5
Hello,

I'm playing on Linux Mint and Proton Experimental.
The game ran perfect until update 1.0.0.5

since update 1.0.0.5 I get stuttering, but only after playing for about an hour. I need to completely restart the game so I can play for another hour. with perfect performance.
The framerate tanks and it becomes unplayable. The performance does not drop gradually, it goes from perfect to unplayable in a second.

Maybe there was a memoryleak introduced in that update?

Has anyone experienced similar?

Is there a proper place to report issues for playing on Linux and Proton?

TLDR, just set launch options for now as workaround:

LD_PRELOAD="/usr/lib/libgamemodeauto.so.0" gamemoderun %command%

Or set empty without gamemode:

LD_PRELOAD="" %command%

Fixed it for me for SF and also other games.

No offense. I have been wanting to get off windows since version 3. Linux is getting better by the day but as far as gaming is concerned nothing beats Windows. Proton has lots of issues and the longer you use it the more you will see it.

I am having the same issue. 1 hour perfect then frame drops. Did not have this issue until recently.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thank you, this seems to be working. I guessed it was the recording feature and turned it off but it didn't seem to help, now I know why.

Curious, I had the exact opposite problem - I couldn't run the game at all until this recent update and I have similar specs. Running a janky Pop OS

I haven't turned the game off in hours and the game is running super smooth. Same with yesterday.

Regarding the record feature, I've completely ignored the flashy icon in the bottom right until now just to confirm I'm deactivated and I am. I wasn't aware of the above.

Regardless, your issue is resolved so all is well. Enjoy your gaming~ :)

Edit: realized the above person wasn't OP lol, so I hope it fixes it for ya OP!

My comment from another Thread didn't want to type it out again lol for if the above fix don't work

Had this on LInux MInt, the fix for me was to go to my save file location, and delete the cache files then re-launch the game, the game rebuilds the cache on 1st launch and it's been sorted ever since :)

the game would play perfectly for around 30-45 mins and then the JITTERS would start, I tried everything to get rid of them, from verifying files, re-installing game, re-installed MY linux distro as i also had done some updates on there, disabled background recording (sneaky move STEAM! having it enabled as default) everything i did changed nothing, so thought i will just wait for an update for them to fix whatever was causing it as i didn't have any issues in other games.

I then by random saw a video by Snutt where it was suggested to delete the cache files to fix stuttering,
so i went and did that and bang everything sorted again back to playing without hiccup :)
The reason re-installing the game or My OS didn't sort it out was because every time i moved my backed up save files back, it also moved back the Borked cache file :)

So any1 still having this issue i would recommend just giving it a go, this crap drove me nuts for a week, constantly having to exit the game and reload every 30-45 mins lol
and deleting just 1 file sorted it for me lol crazy sh**
