getting rid of nuclear waste?

So I know waste as it is can't be discarded in the awesome sink but know there is other ways to use Uranium Waste.

I know I can convert Uranium Waste over to Plutonium Fuel Rods but it seems the Plutonium Fuel Rods then out our Plutonium Waste putting us right back where we were in a way with just a different version of the waste product.

So question is this is it worth converting my U Waste to P Rods and then if so is there a way to deal with the P Waste that comes from the P Fuel Rods?

Also can't get this sorted but in a video he seemed to mention some part of this process could then be sunk into the Awesome Sink but not figured that one out yet as all things I have tried seem to get rejected.

So guess my questions are these.

1) is it worth the machinery and space to convert U Waste to P Fuel Rods?
2) what if anything can be done to get rid of the waste sort of a huge cave with storage chests stock piling the stuff?
3)can anything be done to reuse or recycle the P Waste like we can with the U Waste.

Just don't want to waste all my time setting this up for it to have been pointless!

I can highly recommend setting up a full Uranium to Ficsonium rod burning nuclear power system at least once just to experience it. However, if you just want power, fuel generators with rocket fuel are much easier and there is no shortage of oil and nitrogen on the map.

yeah but nuclear provides more power per plant which is the nice part of it!

The argument is effort vs time vs outcome - but I'd argue that its also a matter of HOW you approach the problem.
Folks tend to overbuild/think a little too big.

I just have a spot with a huge number of containers to shove the plutonium waste into. It'll take a loooong time to fill them all at the current rate

yeah see my case am working on a more properly laid our power factory and I am building big but then plan to have 6 reactors so won't be lacking for power at all even away from the main factory but am building it in such as way as to also be as efficient as possible as well in on one end out on the other all in some form of order. But them am also trying to hide things or make appealing things like belts and wires and such.

yeah at the moment I have a HUGE HUGE and I mean HUGE cave am dumping into but wanting to improve the end results if possible also

Heh, that's what I did with Uranium waste back when there was no disposal method. Had a huge block of containers under the map so the radiation wouldn't be an issue. However, I think back then fuel usage was tied to how much electricity you were using, so the reactors weren't all burning at full capacity, I think this was designed to give me another 50 or so hours of play time, which I never used, so it worked pretty well.

just finished step 1 of the nuclear plant. producing 28.8 uranium fuel rods being burned in 60 reactors producing 360GW of power, and 1440 waste which gets converted to 12.8 plutonium fuel rods/min.
Once i set up the line to turn that into ficsonium, i can burn the plutonium rods in another 60 reactors then the ficsonium rods in another 60 reactors, which should produce around 1TW of power all in all.
I've really been enjoying the challenge to set this all up :)
