getting rid of nuclear waste?
So I know waste as it is can't be discarded in the awesome sink but know there is other ways to use Uranium Waste.

I know I can convert Uranium Waste over to Plutonium Fuel Rods but it seems the Plutonium Fuel Rods then out our Plutonium Waste putting us right back where we were in a way with just a different version of the waste product.

So question is this is it worth converting my U Waste to P Rods and then if so is there a way to deal with the P Waste that comes from the P Fuel Rods?

Also can't get this sorted but in a video he seemed to mention some part of this process could then be sunk into the Awesome Sink but not figured that one out yet as all things I have tried seem to get rejected.

So guess my questions are these.

1) is it worth the machinery and space to convert U Waste to P Fuel Rods?
2) what if anything can be done to get rid of the waste sort of a huge cave with storage chests stock piling the stuff?
3)can anything be done to reuse or recycle the P Waste like we can with the U Waste.

Just don't want to waste all my time setting this up for it to have been pointless!

As of v1.0 you can recycle plutonium waste to make ficsonium. This can then be burned in a reactor with no waste.

nuclear power => nuclear waste
nuclear waste => plutonium fuel
plutonium fuel => awesome sink or plutonium waste
plutonium waste => fisconium power

OK cool not gotten that far yet so is good to know there is an end product that deals with the waste issue. And this Ficsonium I assume burns in the Nuclear Reactors??

The fuel Rods do yes

Ficsonium ends the nuclear cycle but consumes a lot of the power.
You might be better of using the plutonium fuel rods for drones and trucks.

OK yeah I need to start working on that transport part as sort of getting to end stages of the game so am doing more of a good build with proper looking buildings and belts and such so transport will also need reworking.

I have been curious about this though cause everyone says that.

Is it a net loss or a net gain to burn ficsonium rods?

Sink the plutonium rods. No permanent plutonium waste and ok coupons.

Fiscoinum rods can't be sunk and I'm told the energy you get out of them versuses what you put in it's very good.

Ficsonium is still net positive for power generation. Granted not by much but your'e not losing power by doing it and you get rid of the nuclear waste.

Is it worth the complexity vs. sinking the plutonium or using it in drones? IMO yes it is, because that lets you use the plutonium rods for power which is good. That's where you get your net power from.

It's a whole other argument whether nuclear is worth it at all, but I personally think it isn't bad to set up and less boring than hooking up hundreds of fuel generators.

Nuclear waste management is what makes it not worth it over fuel generators as you have covert it to plutonium to sink it which takes about another 3 gw of energy or just store far away to eventually having to deal with it at some point or the another .

Generally Nuclear waste should decay over time but in this game it doesn't even if the day night cycles is merely minutes , So you are stuck to either store it or convert it

Converting it's not all that hard though as just curious of what the sort of end game options are with how to deal with it.

I can highly recommend setting up a full Uranium to Ficsonium rod burning nuclear power system at least once just to experience it. However, if you just want power, fuel generators with rocket fuel are much easier and there is no shortage of oil and nitrogen on the map.

I could not say it in a better way. It would be a pity if you just skip a whole branch of production/power generation. I struggle so much to get all the waste transformed. But it's still an interesting challenge.

Personally I just prefer to wait 4.5 billion years, Dedicated servers FTW

yeah but nuclear provides more power per plant which is the nice part of it!
