Stuttering starts after about half an hour after Steam update
Since the recent Steam stable update (1730853027) i get heavy stuttering in Satisfactory after about half an hour. The stuttering occurs when moving the mouse. The fps drops to about 60 when I normally have over 120.

I'm playing on Linux with a Radeon RX 6900 XT. This has nothing to do with the recent Satisfactory update 1.0.0.5, because it already happened before with the Steam beta and Satisfactory 1.0.0.4.

Same issue for me. I've tried both Proton 9.0-3 and Proton Experimental so far, along with even going down to low settings. I'll go ahead and yeet out my general specs to maybe narrow things down a little.

OS: Garuda Linux (Kernel 6.11.6-zen1-1-zen)
Display server: Wayland
CPU: i7-12600H
GPUs: Integrated Iris XE, RTX 4070 Max-Q (It's always running on the latter.)

I guess so far we can probably rule out it being an AMD or Nvidia thing.

I've been experiencing this only for the last day or so, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to when it happens besides that I'm usually either building or near someone else who's building, but that's 90% of the game right there. Once it starts, the only way I've found to get back to normal is to quit to desktop and relaunch, which sorts things for about half an hour like you said.

I also haven't heard one breath of complaint about this from someone running it in Windows so far. On a related note, the issue seems to be purely visual stuttering in my case. I'm hosting and people playing with me don't seem to experience any extra lag or the like.

Hmm very strange issue. I had discovered this issue last week after a Steam beta client update. Back then I could fix the issue in moving back to the stable Steam client. But this week the stable Steam got an update too and I had this issue again. So I think it has something to do with this new Steam release. I'm using GE Proton 9-18. But also tried different versions.

My pc specs:
OS: Zen Linux (kernel 6.11.6)
Display server: Wayland
Desktop: KDE Plasma 6.2.2
Graphics driver: Mesa 24.2.6
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
GPU: Radeon RX 6900 XT

I'm experimenting stuttering that goes worse and worse until the game crash since the latest patch, running on win10. It starts about 45min/1h from starts, barely noticable, then it gets worse very fast enough, each time I build something or look around, fps drops/stutters. After about 2 hours of play, the game crash.

Same-ish problem: after a while, the framerate suddenly drops, and stays low until the game is closed. This has begun happening a few days ago, though I am not sure when exactly or how long it takes for the problem to appear.

Using Pop_OS! (22.04, up to date) and the default Proton version (probably 9.03).

For me, it is most noticeable when: moving the mouse in any direction, at any speed, while my character is not in a vehicle; walking side to side or backwards; moving or turning in the Explorer vehicle (without moving the mouse); navigating menus using the mouse, including the target selection wheel of the... detector handheld thing.
It is less noticeable when: walking or running straight forward; using equipment (without moving the mouse); moving the mouse in the Explorer vehicle without moving the vehicle itself.

My computer has sufficient specifications to run Satisfactory in ultra quality (Ryzen 5600h, Nvidia 3060 mobile, 16 gb of ram), and the fans do not accelerate after half an hour of this stuttering. This is not the most precise diagnostic, but it seems to mean that the stutter does not come from an intolerable increase in needed processing power.

Same thing for me. Stated shuttering after an update. Playing using Proton Experimental.

Same issues for me but with another game. Noticed it right after the steam update.

Steam added background video recording to the Windows client but it's off by default. Maybe it's turned on by default on Linux??

Same here. Pop! OS 22.04

I've been playing Satisfactory heavily this week without a single problem, and this issue only started today for me after the 1.0.0.6 update. Though Steam also updated today, so I don't know with a certainty if it's one or the other.

Closing the game and relaunching it "fixes" it until next time. Not terrible but a little annoying.

Question: Any Linux-Gamer having experienced the same after the latest Steam main update, that the runtime environments Scout and Soldier have been installed without request?:steamfacepalm:
Having all three runtime environments in Steam caused issues to me before, but after uninstalling those, all was fine again. Only problem: This time i cannot uninstall those - error message is missing shared content.:steamsad:

Edit:
I played just now 2.5 hours.
I see no change in memory usage - yet.
No stutter - all smooth.

OpenSuse Leap 15.6, Gnome.
Steam from Flatpak with GE-Proton9-15
Steam Overlay ON
DX12
CPU: 52% from AMD Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: 73% from AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT
Memory: 30% of 32 GByte
FPS Limit 60 - coz i play mostly on the Tele.
