Will existing worlds be obsolete after the Full 1.0 Release?
I'm having a very hard time putting any energy or time into the game since they've announced the release, since I don't believe existing worlds will be as fun or even playable after the 1.0 release this September.

Does anyone know if we will have continuation on existing worlds, or will the release of 1.0 make existing worlds obsolete?

I'm wishing 1.0 was closer so I can fully dive in.

Short answer is no you don’t need to start over but you’re probably going to want to

OK now the long answer so what you’re going to have to do depending on how big your save is you might have to redo your line recipe changes, and nodes being upgraded downgraded or plain flat out removed.
If you’re running nuclear power plant with the beacons recipe, it’s screwed.

Existing save files and worlds will be playable, they just will need some modifications to your production lines. How much? How bad? No one knows. Like, Fenix said, you'll probably want to start a new save anyway since there will be new story, more lore, new items, some new mechanics. It's probably safer to wait now, since it's so close now.

On the other hand, you may want to just look around, spend some time learning controls and basic mechanics as 1.0 will not be drastically different. So whatever you learn now, will not be wasted and it might be easier to start a new save when 1.0 is out.

When 1.0 drops there will be a recipe rebalance.
When the balance changes nothing in a specific production line, that part of the factory will work without the need to fix.

When the balance changes the ratio but does NOT change the parts in the production line you can easyly fix it by tweaking the production rates or adding overflow systems

When the balance DOES change the required parts you need to replan the changed parts. Probally a tedious job but it's still doable.

The only thing really required to keep a current playthrough playable is leaving space for expansion in your factories and add some power storages/ power switches.

The only thing you might not be able to fix on your main save is the story

Thanks all for you input. Seems like I'm going to need to be patient and create a new world once we all get the 1.0 release.

I can't wait! Literally, I'm not doing well at waiting patiently.

yeah I started playing a few days before the announcement (just my luck), I just quit after that, probably a good thing though, i have like 12 hrs and i've burnt out on EA games before to the point I don't touch the full game, so I'm excited as i've barely seen the game

I am starting fresh with 1.0 for sure, but long term I also plan to go back and "fix" the old factories, will be a race before nuclear meltdown occurs :)

I don't plan to start over, at least not before finishing the game with my current save. From the limited knowledge we have, I'd prefer to immediately sink my teeth into phase 5 of the elevator which will necessitate me retooling a lot of my facilities anyways. I can take into account recipe adjustments at the same time.

There is the problem of missing story elements, but I'm interested to find out more about what that is like. If it's just a series of message/emails coming in, I might just youtube it. If it's interactive quests with a lot of back story, I'll restart some day to see it

Yeah why would you not want to restart ? An old world is done, you did all the planing and building, instead of fixing everything for every update why not start fresh and do it better this time ?
