Is there a story-line YET?
With version 1.0 coming shortly, it is my strong Hope that they have at least progressed the story to the point that half the stuff on the map makes sense.

Yes, there will be some story in 1.0 for those who require one. Otherwise, it's a sandbox game and many feel it needs no story.

There is a search function.

You are on one heck of a helpful roll today, Zak.
I love sandbox games and hate scripted ones, but, there are collectible elements of this game that REQUIRE a story-line, and serve no useful purpose otherwise.

I think you mean "lore". The game needs more lore for sure. But you will be done with the story in like 20 hours anyway and most people stay in this game for hundreds hours.

Your right.
I meant, lore or background, or gap filling.
I don't need or want it, but some elements of game-play are stuck behind that wall at the moment.
At the moment we don't know what their significance is or will be.
Should I build my base here? Is this going to be a problem in the future? Etc...

Thanks for the correction.

So yeah, a story is typically the primary game mechanism to introduce the player to lore, but not the only one. "Build 500 items and press a button to go to the next level" is hardly a story anyway :) Lore can be uncovered through exploration too or simply told via some narrative. Story here just serves as an extended tutorial anyway.
