What is causing this clicking sound?
Rather often, and seemingly at random, I hear a clicking noise. It sounds like a softer version of the click that's made when picking paleberries. I can be standing still, then turn left and there's a click. I can be walking along doing nothing else, and all of a sudden, there's a click. It only happens when I'm moving; the click never happens when I'm standing still, even if I'm building. The clicks stop when I turn down the "effects" volume.

Does anyone know what's causing this? It's starting to drive me crazy because I think something's going on in the environment, but I can't find any reason for it.

can you record it?

or it's a tap tap tap while moving on foundations?

I have a feeling there's a self-own coming.

Spiders do exactly what you're describing when they're in the area and not aggro. My bet is there's a cave below your factory. Check on the interactive map by enabling the Cave layout : https://satisfactory-calculator.com/fr/interactive-map
Sounds very like an audio bug I had last summer. I had to uninstall, restart then reinstall.

The only clicking noise I hear when moving is from the Blade Runners... maybe you are hearing them?

For those of you that provided actually helpful suggestions and asked meaningful questions, thank you. I checked out them all.

@Fenix - I think you hit on the answer. I don't hear the clicks when I'm not wearing the Blade Runners. So that could just be the normal behavior of the Blade Runners, or that I'm extra sensitive to that particular sound.

So if the Blade Runners are actually the culprit, I'll probably ditch them, once I get the jetpack in this play through.

It is definitely the Blade Runners. I found a way to reliably reproduce it:

This is best done on dirt or grass (to lessen the sound of the footfalls from being on a foundation or rocky surface).

While wearing the Blade Runners, do this without turning (i.e., just use the W and S keys): Take 5 individual steps forward (i.e., take a single step and wait until you come to a full stop, then another step, etc.). Then take 5 individual steps backward. Repeat forward/backward a few times. The clicking sound can be heard at seemingly random times.

There is no clicking sound doing the same activity when not wearing Blade Runners.

That's so weird I've never heard that sound. Are you using headphones ?

Same behavior whether using headphones (SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless via USB to base station) or S/PDIF [Realtek digital output from motherboard] to Sony Receiver to Klipsch speakers.

It's quite a subtle sound. I think there's actually two different sounds, one for the light mechanical click as you move, and another slightly heavier metal clunk when you're running on certain surfaces. I like it as it makes the blade runners feel more real.

Unfortunately the blade runners are not available under the equipment audio settings. Neither are general footsteps.
