how to kill hatcher?

i cant kill hatchers please help

The best way I found is with the rifle. Lay into the pod until it explodes.

Run up to it with a tractor.
Get out and whack it a few times.
Jump into tractor and let the bugs splat themselves on it.
Repeat as necessary.

Slide jump into it. Swing early in flight so the back-hand strike of the Xeno-blade lands first. (Hitting it with the stronger backhand strike first seems to delay the initial bugs hatching.)

Then swing away and kill it.

If any bugs hatch out from it or others nearby, walk backwards and time your strikes to kill them before they splode.

Eat-up to regain health.

Rinse. Repeat.

until I get the rebar gun I just run up and attack the egg yoke in the center... and tank the fireflies. then eat a bunch of nuts

If you are crouching they won't pop. You can crawl up to them and whack them as many times as it takes to kill and they don't respond at all.

This may or may not continue to be the case in 1.0.

As others have said, if you're going in with a zapper put nuts or berries in one of your hand slots and just tank the damage and heal. Otherwise, shoot from as far away as you can.

If you have a rebar gun with shatter rebar, and you can slide up to it fast enough, before the bugs spawn and one shot it if you're close enough. Think shot gun range. Or, with explosive rebar, jet pack above them and shoot the center before the bugs spawn. That also one shots them. Both techniques kill them before the bugs spawn.

Technically any rebar can kill them with one shot, if hitting the egg yoke.
Usually it’s 2, one to open the shell, then another to hit the yoke.

Explosive rebar is best weapon in the game. It one shots all smaller enemies and 2-3 shots the bigger ones, except the nuke hogs and nuke spiders. If there are two spitters or hogs right next to each other, one explosive rebar will kill them both. It's good for hatchers, because the explosion can kill all 3 bugs AND the hatcher if you hit it right. You can wait for the thing to open up and kill it before the bugs spawn. You can blow up fart rocks from long distance. It does everything explosive nobelisks do, but does it better. 2700 hours in and its the only weapon on my hotbar, cept nukes.
